Ender's Game/Books that surprised you

So, I just finished Ender's Game, and I thought I'd start a thread about it..
Honestly, the book really surprised me. It was interesting in the beginning, but the middle of the book is really gruesome and I didn't really enjoy it. But the end was pretty interesting.
If you haven't read Ender's Game, I don't really know if I'd recommend it.
If you have read Ender's Game, did you like it? Are you going to read the rest of the series?
Do you know other books that you didn't like? Or other books that surprised you?

I've read Ender's Game. It was pretty good. I don't think I'll read the rest of the series though.
I didn't like Fablehaven... I know it's really popular but it was just... boring, idk.
The Seer and the Sword is one of my favorites, but it sat on my shelf for so long before I read it because the cover looked meh.
