Hello! I don't
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Hello! I don't make threads very often, but I finished rereading The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green and it's soooo good and I didn't see any threads about it yet, so I figured I might as well make one. It's nonfiction, and I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they don't like nonfiction, because I didn't think I did either. It does have some swearing and vaguely mature topics, but I think it's appropriate for most of the people on the chatterbox. Basically, it's a bunch of reviews of aspects of a human-centered earth, each on a five star scale, but there's a lot of story telling and history involved. Often while reading it I'll forget what the particular review is about and have to look back at the beginning of the chapter, because he always tells stories about seperate things that he later ties into whatever thing he's reviewing. I particularly recommend the reviews on sunsets and googling strangers, I think they are both very moving.

Oh I'm like halfway through this book! It's super interesting! My mom read it too, and we both like it. I love how it's nonfiction, but actually interesting, which is usually not the case for the nonfiction I read. The amount of random facts and interesting, also random stories that it branches off into is really cool! I also just love John Green's writing, his style just feels so intriguing and fun.!

I haven't read that but my parents did and I think they really liked it. It looks interesting.

I'm reading that too! I was so excited when it came out and preordered a copy since it was released around my birthday. It's so amazing that John Green managed to sign every single first edition! I actually performed the Sunsets essay for my public speaking class. What's your favorite of the essays?

Hmmm I don't know. Maybe the Auld Lang Syne one? Or the sunset one.

It's really good and surprisingly interesting to read how other people think of the world as it is now. My favorite essay is probably Auld Lang Syne, but all of them are interesting and very moving.
