I have an interesting relationship with manga.  I discovered it in third grade and loved, loved, loved it, took a how to draw book home and poof, it sparked my entire interest in graphic novels, Japanese culture, Japanese language, literally all other languages, the style, and of course art.  I want to be an author as an adult, and I'd like part of my career to be manga.  So, it's been a big thing for me.  But I actually read very, very little manga because my parents googled all sorts of stuff about it and discovered the hypersexualised side of it.  Then, manga and anime just absolutely blasted off in popularity, which kind of made it less enjoyable for me.  It was something quirky (ha ha) and unusual before then to me, and then it just...wasn't.  And I felt kind of inclined to dislike most popular stuff, since it usually was kind of dumb, it's popularity just went poof after awhile and if you liked it then you looked like you were trying and failing to be cool, and you never knew if the people you bonded with were really into it or were lying to make themselves likeable.  Aside from that, what mostly became popular in terms of anime were the, uh....  questionable stuff, and I have some screen sensitivities and, come on, we're way too young for that.  So the community around that stuff aren't typically the people I like to hang out with or feel comfortable being around.  So, yeah, like I said.  Complicated.

But back to the original question.  I like Yotsuba&! and My Hero Academia, and I want to read Witch Hat Atelier.
