I am new
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
I am new here, but I want to start a discussion. I like all books, but nonfiction books are my least favorite. There are a few that I like, but I want to start reading more of them. I also feel like a lot of people have trouble finding good nonfiction books, so if anyone have any suggestions, please put them down below. also, please write about why you like that book. Thank you!
My two suggestions:
Wierd But True series: It is full of random facts, and they are very easy to read. One bad thing is that you probably won't learn much from it, but it's still pretty fun to read.
Life of presidents: Fame, Shame, and What Their Neighbors Thought by Kathleen Krull: This book talks about all the presidents without telling any political things. It talks about the presidents personality and other things, so it was pretty good.

I'm not a big fan of nonfiction either, but a few of my favorites are Rad Women A-Z and Rad Women Worldwide by Kate Schatz (both are illustrated) and Bad Girls Throughout Historh by Ann Shen, which is also illustrated by the author. All of these books have page-long biographies of specific women from modern and historic times, and they're fun. The Bad Girls one has a few mature topics in some of the biographies. Ann Shen also has Legendary Ladies, which is similar but it talks about goddesses from different mythologies and religions.

I will definitely check those books out. By the way, should I introduce myself on Chirp at Cricket? Or should I just introduce myself here?

It doesn't really matter! More people might read an introduction thread on Chirp at Cricket, but there aren't very strict boundaries :) I never made an intro thread when I joined.

Ok, I will introduce myself on Chirp at Cricket tomorrow, (or maybe today if this was posted then). Thank you Lupine!

Hey Sparkly Cat! Welcome to the CB! I totally reomend Radium Girls. It's all about dial painters during the early 1900's and how the Radium effected them. It is slightly gruesome (I mean, someone's jaw come out if I remember correctly), but it is a really good nonfiction book! I also love the Weird But True series!

Stamped by Ibram X Kendi and Jason Reynolds. It's about racism. We read it for social studies but it doesn't feel like a typical history book -- very well-written.
Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. It's about the evolution of our species and really reframes your view on the world.
