Chatterbox: Blab About Books
When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
I just finished...
I just finished reading this book, and I liked it! has anyone else read it? it's a little boring at first, but it gets a lot more interesting. It's about a girl named Miranda who receives mysterious notes in various places. It also has interesting theories about time travel stuff. I don't want to spoil it, though, so that's all I'll say for now!

That's one of my favorite books of all time! It's so good and weird, and the kind of book that makes your head kinda explode at the end. You should read Rebecca Stead's other books too!

What a coincidence, I just finished reading this book yesterday! I thought it was interesting. Unlike most books it doesn't have a clear direction to the story and there seems to be no reason or connection about a lot of things that happen. You read wondering where in the world is this book going? What does it mean? And at the very end everything suddenly comes into focus, making you exclaim in surprise and circle back to the beginning just to see the threads and connections that didn't seem to be there when you first read it.
I thought the bits about time travel was really interesting, I'm going to have to go back to understand it some more. This most definitely wasn't the kind of book where you can see the end from miles away.
You do have to be able to push through the book to the very end because it can get a little boring as most are not used to a book that doesn't have a clear direction. Without an obvious direction it can easily seem aimless and boring.
I suggest you read it if you haven't, it is definitely worth the read. Just remember to push through to the end. Even if you get bored.

Yes! I love this book so much! I listened to it on audiobook when I was about six years old and only remembered it as the book that explains time travel like a diamond (which is complete genius by the way.) Then my sister checked it out at the library last year, I read it because I like stealing her books, recognized it, and now Rebecca Stead is one of my favorite authors. Like Peregrine said, the way its like a collage of only semi-related events from a few months in Miranda's life that get threaded together into this crazily complex ending is so cool, and there are these little nuggets of wisdom like the one about everyone walking around with their heads under veil that I love.

I read it in 5th grade for a book club and I've loved it ever since. it's so good, and I wasn't expecting all of the time travel stuff!
