Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Quotes!
This is simple:...

This is simple: You can post book quotes (do not include tags), and anyone who wants to can take a guess at what book (or series) it's from! For imaginary bonus points, also guess who said it!

I think this was done a while ago, but I'm not entirely sure. And if it was, I didn't participate, so this might not be the same thing anyway. Does that make sense?

Anyway, I've got several quotes to start us off:

1. "You are not much of a warrior, are you, Finian?"

2. "Lord Hunkyhair LIVES!"

3. "I am a DeWinter! We do not froth!"

4. "Sisters and brothers, loyal for life, tethered for always, true as a knife"

5. "He's just this lizard I know."

6. "...And I'll be the wham-bam-shove-a-pineapple-up-his-snout dragon!"

7. "The time is closer than you think."

Have fun!

"The best places to hide are the places where no one wants to go"

"Behold! I foresee a... walrus!"

@Caroline C, the first one is from Keeper, right? Alden? I'm not sure about the second, but it sounds familiar...

Wait, is this from WoF, being one of Fatespeaker's "predictions"? Also yeah, that's an Alden quote, but I don't know the second one either.

Is that from the Mysterious Benedict Society?

"Like most fourteen-year-olds, she was right-handed, so the rocks skipped farther across the murky water when she used her right hand than when she used her left."

A Series of Unfortunate Events? A Bad Beginning?

@Morning

Yup, it from A Series of Unfortunate Events. I remembered it because I thought it was funny because it technically is true, but not in the way it's implied.

I agree with Barnswallow! Constance said the "Without me!" part.

Here's another:

"Yes, you can have a vacation from school, but I want you to study a little every day, with ----," said Mrs. ----- that evening.

I just thought of another quote! Does anyone know this one?

"'H----, A miracle has happened. Ms. A----- is taking a bath." (blanks are names - I am giving the first letter though (H and A), because I don't think this book is that well known)

Opening up to random pages in random books results in this:

1) "It's also worthy of mention that every pattern has at least one small bias, and one day it will tip itself over, or fall from one page to another."

2) "Are you sleepy? That's to be expected. In Autumn, trees sleep like bears. The whole world pulls on its nightclothes and snuggles in to sleep through all of winter. Except for me. I never sleep."

3) "M----- sat with her arms clasped around her legs, her chin on her knees, staring at the dirty white walls. In her mind's eye she saw the N in front of her, the N with the horned marten sitting on it, and she felt as if her mother were looking out from beyond the big capital letter..."

Yeah, I agree! I haven't read any of those but I especially like the first two.

"'Gee, why WOULD someone lock their door?' wonders the person trying to break in."

Hint: it's from a graphic novel.

I just found this so funny for some reason.
