Chatterbox: Blab About Books

The Girl Who Drank the Moon
Hi!My screen ...

Hi!

My screen/pen name is Oaklynn Summers.  I am new to Chatterbox, so it would help if I could have some help!  My favorite book is The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill.  And if you don't know about her, here is your chance to find out more about her!

I don't know any other books by this author, but I can always rely on my Grandmother.  She used to be a librarian and loves books, and she sends me a package full of them about every two months!  I want to be a writer when I grow up, and I love to read.  So I always think that when I read different genres of books, thats different genres of writing!  The library is one of my favorite places to be, other than my room (workshop), on my bike (riding), and with my friends (just hanging out).

I would love to know more and meet you all!

Yours truly,

Oaklynn S.

Welcome, Oaklynn. Were pleased to meet you. How wonderful to have a grandmother who sends you packages of books. You've come to the right place. Chatterbox is full of people who love reading and writing. You'll find lots of book recommendations from others right here! Have a look around.

Heyo Oaklynn! I love your name; how did you come up with it? I kinda just translated my middle name into english and got Silver Crystal, which I thought was cool. Anyway, I'm Silver Crystal (Silver for short if you want) and I've been here for about a month (woww already??). I'm just your average book obsessed girl that likes poetry and writing and reading, and of course, the Chatterbox. It's really cool here and everyone has similar intrests and such.

It's so cool that your grandma is a librarian! Mine is a retired author/editor and I love listening to her talk about books. I've also read the Girl Who Drank the Moon, but it was a whiiileee ago so I don't really remember it that well. I do remember that it was a good read, though :)

Even though you probably understand everything a lot after you've looked at the Ultimate Guide, here's an outline of the CB for ya, even though you probably don't need it :p

This Month: This has stuff like MCU's, which come every month. Also, monthly sensitive things (for example, there is a holiday RP thing on the This Month page right now, because it's December).

Chirp at Cricket: This has pretty much anything on it. SI's (when CBers use different names than usual and tried to get guessed by the other people on the thread; there is a cryptids SI, a real name SI and another SI on the CaC page right now), intro threads, any topic that anyone thinks is important.

Blab About Books: Just a fun place to talk about books! It's been falling behind in popularity recently, so #ReviveBaB!

Down to Earth: This is essentially the same thing as Chirp at Cricket, except there's no SI's, it's just a place to put thoughts and ideas and random stuff that doesn't fit into BaB, This Month, PP or Inkwell.

Pudding's Place: A place for art, poetry, poetry/art contests, picturings (a picturing is when one CBer draws another CBer; look for the Ultimate Picturing Thread if you want one), and ski lodges. A ski lodge is a story that an anonymous CBer writes in which other CBers go on a vacation where one of them turns out to be a murderer and you need to figure out who as the CBer writes the story.

Inkwell: A place where people post their stories, ideas, solowrites (where CBers submit characters and a CBer writes a story about them), roleplays (where everyone contributes to the writing of the story), and pretty much anything connected to writing.

I hope this helped in some way! Anyway, welcome, and I can't wait to see you around here! *Explodes confetti cannon*

Thanks Silver!

I got my name by thinking of the names I really like, and I just read the book (this was like 2 months ago) One Crazy Summer.  I forget who the author is and I'm sorry.  It took place in Oakland, and Oaklynn is similar and I think it sounded pretty.  I told my mom about the idea for it as my name around here and she had the idea of Summers.  Put it together and it sounds really pretty to me so, thats why my name is Oaklynn Summers! I'd love to have a Grandmother that is an author/editor.  That's what I want to be when I grow up!  Thanks for the info on the categories, now I know what to talk about in each one. Thanks!

Hi Oaklynn! I'm newish to chatterbox myself. I LOVE Girl Who Drank the Moon! A few other of my favorites are the Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger, DragonKeeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, the Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson, and the Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell. I love reading, cats (and all other animals), drawing, and sometimes sewing and writing. I have a cat named Zahra and a dog named Nini. Zahra likes scritchies around her neck and playing with hairties.
