The Rithmatist
Hi there!Has ...

Hi there!

Has anyone else read The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson? I read it recently for a book club.

I really enjoyed it. I loved how detailed the world was, and that the system of magic, rithmatics, was very well thought out and had clearly defined rules. Also, it makes use of a subject, geometry, which I never would have thought could be made interesting. Even with magic. (Sorry, I'm not a math person.)

What did you think of the characters? I really loved Melody, maybe because she's a lot like me: dramatic. I wish that I could draw like she does. However, I'm not a big fan of Joel. In my humble opinion, he pokes his nose into other people's business and doesn't get punished and he takes advantage of Fitch.

Honestly, I love the cliffhanger ending. I know that the book is supposed to be the first of a series, but I could be content if Sanderson didn't write any more. Why? Because his characters are so detailed that I really love predicting what they're going to do, and I want to theorise about what the Forgotten are. With that said, I will certainly read the second one if it comes out.

Have a great day!

The Rithmatist was really good! I can't wait for the second book to come out; while it's fun to think of different possible plots, I want to know what Brandon Sanderson had in mind. I actually really liked Joel. He is nosy, but also very determined. Melody gets on my nerves, though.
