Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Inkheart
Has anyone read...

Has anyone read Inkheart by Cornelia Funke? I absolutely loved the first book. Inkspell was pretty good too, and I have not yet read Inkdeath. Meggie was a Semi-Sue, but I liked her all the same. Farid was utterly pointless. Capricorn was kind of pathetic for a villian. Dustfinger was okay, same for Basta, Flatnose, and Cockerell. Elinor was so-so at the start of the books, but near the end of Inkspell, she just got annoying, like she was just holding on to the story and refusing to let go. I hate, hate, hate Orpheus. He's just evil, he's so stuck up. Oh, and Gwin was adorable.

Anyone else have opinions?

Probably not a good idea for me to reply to this one at 3:45 am, but...

Well, I didn't get past the first book. Because the series was so... dull. Meggie was indeed a Sue and Farid was pointless and a Stu, but more likable than the rest of hte characters. Capricorn, of course, being the worst.

This is just me, though, I don't like Funke's style, period. The plot was qiute good; the characters killed it. To each his own...

Same opinion here about the characters, but I actually think that it was a great book.

I loved Meggie and Elinor! Really, I loved Inkheart in general, but I still hated Capricorn.

I agree that Gwin was adorable. And I think Meggie's dad should have told her what was going on and why they kept moving around, and why he never read her bedtime stories, and all that.
