Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Long Books
Have you ever...

Have you ever had that book that has 500-700 pages? I have. Usually the norm for me is having books with 300-400 pages, but occasionly I get the really thick book.

Do you like these big books? What's your favorite thick book? WHat's your least favorite? How long did it take you to finish them (if you remember)?

Remember, it has to be 500-700 pages, and I don't count graphic novels because pictures take up more room. I do count books with occasional pictures though.

My favorite is actually a treasury of fairy tales from Andrew Lang. However, it took a couple of months because I was so busy during that time.

My least favorite is (please don't kill me) Great Expectations. I don't know, I just found our main character and most of the story so dull. There was hardly any action or suspense in this 600 page book. Just endless conversations. I was meh on most of the characters too. I would have stopped reading it right away, but it was a school thing, so I had to read all of it. I don't remember how long this one took either.

I don't recall exactly how long "Seraphina" is but it seemed really long when I was reading it. I think it took me a day or two days.

Also I agree with you about Great Expectations. The beginning was fine but then later on it's like WHAT'S THE POINT  and the main character is so freaking annoying and why does he even like Estella sure she's pretty but she's awful and evil and BLEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAh.

That one took a week for me, I think.

Also the last three HP books. They were goooooood, except the sixth one. It took me a weekend to read them (except I had already read the first ten chapters of OotP). I spent an awful lot of time reading that vacation . . . .  . . . . . . . .

I don't have a favorite. But I do have a least favorite, and it's Swiis Family Robinson.

It's so BORING, took so LONG, there are WAY too many run-in sentences, and just NO!

I started "War and Peace" when I was like 7 or something but it was so dry for me at the time and there were sooo many weird words and some were in Russian so I stopped 38 pages in in a 1455 page book.
