Chatterbox: Blab About Books

"The Star Shard" is a book!
Congratulations and hurra...

Congratulations and hurray! Frederic Durbin, author of "The Star Shard" (April 2008-April 2009), has written us with the fabulous news that Houghton Mifflin will be publishing an expanded version of his story as a book in the fall of 2010.

Fred says: "The book version will be much longer than the Cricket story. There will be more towns along the way, more exploration of the Rake, more dangers, and more adventures. All the familiar characters will be there, plus a few more. I had already expanded the story into a book before I submitted it, and the publisher is asking for another major revision, so there is still some significant work yet to do. As I revise, I will also be keeping in mind the excellent suggestions made by many of Cricket's readers. Thank you all so much!"

And thank you, Fred, for the great story. Here's five big chirps from everybuggy in Cricket Country!

Dear Cricket,

Will Fred be signing any books at any bookstores when The Star Shard comes out?

It's possible, but it's still a bit far off to know. And he does live in Japan, most of the time.

Thanks for your reply, Cricket!:)

You're welcome. On second thought, Fred does come back to the US to visit every so often.
