Chatterbox: Blab About Books

InkHeart
Inkheart is a...

Inkheart is a very good novel about a girl called Meggie and a her father (called Mo)

Mo has a very special talent that gets them into alot of trouble.  An evil man called Capricorn is willing to do anything to get a hold of Mo and a book called Inkheart.  Dustfinger, a man who is a freind of Mo and of Capricorn does something and suddenly Meggie and Mo are in Capricorn's clutches!!!!

It is a really good book and I recomend it to anyone 10 and up (There are some 'dark' areas).

Meh. I never could get passed the third chapter. It was so laggy...

Movie was decent, though.

TNO, the movie had nothing to do with the book and it was difficult to get into.

TNO, you should read it again, past the third chapter, and if you still think it's "laggy" I don't know what isn't. To BuksRul: I suppose it has some "dark" parts, but mostly it's rather just... tense. Anyway that's mostly in the second and third book. Although I admit the beginning of Inkdeath was kind of laggy.

i  agree with you TNO but I haven't seen the movie. i just didn't think it was worth it.

Inkheart's amazing in my opinion. The book is, anyway - I haven't seen the movie. BuksRul, have you read the sequiels, Inkspell and Inkdeath? They're even better - mostly because they don't have Capricorn. I found him quite poorly written, but in the others, the villains are actually believable!

Ima, I've been meaning to read them but I am reading another book by her called The Theif Lord.  You should try it.

I LOVE Inkheart!!!! I found the book on the table in the living room and started reading it. i have all the books in the Inkheart Trilogy. I got the book Twilight for my sisters birthday (someone thought that Autumns birthday was my birthday) and my dad exchanged it at target for Inkdeath. The movie was HORRIBLE. I had to wait YEARS for it to come out and then I see a horrible job. I don't know if dads finished reading Autumn Inkblood (Inkspell). They changed the name "Inkblood" into "Inkspell". (I have no idea who "they" are).

I'm guessing 'they' is either Cornelia Funke or her editor.

Probably her editor.  Cornelia Funke didn't want to call it Inkspell.  Or, at least that's what my dad said.

I was very disappointed at how they did the movie. It irratates me when they combine the first book with the second. It's a good movie if you don't read the book.

Ah well, at least I finished the first book, past the first three chapters and all. But I couldn't bring myself to read the last two. I agree with TNO (umlaut). Laggy. Also flatly written and dull. I can't name one good character... well, I s'pose that aside from being completely cliched Farid was okay. Ish. But Capricorn was just terrible, and Meggie (that was her name, right?), was just really annoying.

The idea was a good one, though. In a different writer's hands, with better characters and an interesting villain, the books could've been some of the most original contemporary fantasy out there.

I do think Capricorn was a horribly written character. I'm glad he died (he was soon replaced by a villain who was much more interesting). Exactly how were Meggie and Eleanor flat?

I can be pretty sure, then, that I disagree with you on the subject of books. Considering also that you thought the Chronicles of Narnia were poorly written.

I kept wishing I was reading the Inkheart the characters were talking about. It sounded really fascinating.

I agree! Let's all write letters to Cornelia Funke asking her to write it! I don't care if she lives in Germany! I'm doing it anyway!
