Next-Generation HPRP, part the eleventh
Eleventh rhymes with...

Eleventh rhymes with seventh, haha.

Anyway, the next thread for our next-generation HP roleplay. Er, fanfiction, really, to tell the truth. It stopped being a roleplay when all the Hogwarts people left (read: got exasperated with the Bella-Voldy-Wolfbar-Belinda fanfiction Mary W. and I were writing...)

Right. So. MW said she was having problems loading the last one. Plus, the number was wrong on the last one. Shouldn've been tenth.

Carry on!

((Happy birthday, Ima. And it's not really character controlling if it's a general character like Scorpius (but not really Bellatrix and Voldy, TNO (umlaut) usually writes them best...)- none of us invented him so anyone can be him, as opposed to Last-Gen RP on a different thread, where everyone controls a separate JKR character. Confusing? I agree...))

//Scorpius//

"Er... hi, Dad," said Scorpius weakly.

Draco stared for a few seconds, as though not believing what he saw. "Scorpius?"

Scorpius nodded.

"Why are you here? Does your mother know this?" Draco's eyes flashed. "Do you have any idea how dangerous this is?"

Scorpius blinked. He thought his father would be happy to see him. Didn't he think he'd be worried, perhaps, if one day his dad disappeared without any notice? Shouldn't Scorpius be the one asking the frantic questions.

"Answer me!" demanded Draco. "Do you have any idea how dangerous this is?"

"Yes," mumbled Scorpius. "But... I was worried."

"You were worried!" Draco threw up his hands. "You were worried! And you think I wasn't? More to the point- your mother! What d'you think your mother will feel like when she realizes that not only has she lost me, but you've run away and put yourself in the greatest possible danger! I may not have exactly warm feelings for Hogwarts, but for God's sake, Scorpius at least you were safe there!" He practically spat the last words, and then left the room in disgust, leaving Scorpius feeling as though someone had torn out his heart.

After hours, just a few minutes after midnight when the house elves had finished their work and gone to sleep, the Ministry was, quite simply, dark. Dark and cold; Bellatrix could see her breath rising in steamy columns illuminated by the dim light emanating from her wand.

She moved soundlessly through the Atrium, gave the noisy lifts a miss and took the lesser-used stairs downwards. Her knees protested mightily after the first flight but she ignored them for another two floors; at which point she eased out into the hall, her wand now extinguished and her eyes as adjusted to the oppressive darkness as they ever would be.

The Death Eater glided silently down the hall to the office at the end; she entered smoothly and closed the door behind her, at which point she lit her wand again.

From there it was a simple matter to locate her manor in the vast network that connected wizarding fireplaces; a quick spell later Lestrange manor vanished. Bellatrix allowed herself a satisfied smirk and returned to the Atrium.

"Bellatrix." The voice was hard, fury evident behind clenched teeth.

The Death Eater laughed and whirled around, wand up, unable to resist the challenge. "Well, if it isn't little baby Potter, come out to play... You don't learn, do you boy?"

"Last time I checked," he growled, "Your master was dead."

She clicked her tongue disapprovingly. "Tsk, tsk, Potter, reopening old wounds. Bad form, bad form all around. Who else is here?"

"Just me," Potter said, raising his wand in her direction.

"Not still sore over my *dear* cousin, are you sweet?" she cooed, and laughed again. She sobered- slightly- when a blaze of red light burst from the tip of his wand. She evaded it easily and countered quickly; Potter barely had time to duck. "No Albus Dumbledore to come swooping in to save you this time," she added.

"Why are you here?" he asked bluntly.

"Not telling," she replied. "That would just be stupid."

"Let's end this," he ground out, raising his wand.

"Mm, no," she said. "Much as I'd love to kill you, baby Potter, I really must be going. So little time, so much to do, I'm sure you know the feeling." With a twisted smile she Disapperated, reappearing outside of her manor.

Bellatrix resisted the urge to skip up to the front door and contented herself with humming instead.

((Warning, this will not be good, but I have writer's block and I'm feeling slightly impatient, so...))

Scorpius had spent the last hour or so wandering aimlessly about the manor, thinking about what his father had said. It was true, his mother would be worried when she found out that Scorpius was gone. But then, if his father was trying to spare Pansy's feelings, he shouldn't have left in the first place. This was how Scorpius tried to justify his actions to himself.

"Scorpio...?"

Scorpius turned around, not recognizing the voice or the tall, dark-haired girl and wondering if perhaps she was related to Bellatrix... they did look sort of alike. After studying her face, though, he realized with a considerable relief that it was a Slytherin fifth year from Hogwarts, something Selwyn... Linda, maybe? What was she doing here?

"Scorpio," she said, a bit breathlessly. "Draco said you just got here... Er... it's Scorpio, right? Anyhow," she continued, obviously not caring about the answer, "would you mind running and getting Wolfbar and Oliver for me? ...Bellatrix just got back from the Ministry, and she said that she wanted to talk to us... well, the older ones, anyhow... Thanks, Scorpio..." She gave him a small smile and hurried down the stairs and out of sight. His muttered, "It's Scorpius, actually," went unheard.

((bleh, that was awful...))

Suddnely, as Scorpius went down the hall, Holly, still hiding in the closet, whispered, "Scorpius! Scorpius!!" He turned her way, and she dragged in in the closest with her.

"What do you think you're doing? Now that you know your father is alright, we have to go. Come on!"

He stopped dead. "You heard all that?" His eyebrows raised in disbeleif.

"Yes, yes, I heard all of it. Now let's go. We have to tell the Ministry that he's back, and Bellatrix too. Come. On!!!!"

He grabbed her arm, saying, "WE can't. YOU can't. I can't. What about my dad? And the Dark Lord? He'll hunts us down for sure, and he'll kill my father, for sure!"

"Then we'll take him with us! Go get them, and the prisoners, as well!"

"We can't do that! He'll hunt us down, all of us, and Father can't leave! It's not possible, with them watching him, like a hawk! And the pisoners, they...aren't prisoners! They don't want to leave!"

Something creaked outside. Holly slapped her hands to her mouth, and his. They hadn't exactly been quiet.  They backed into the shadows of the closet. Suddenly the  door opened, and a burst of red light. Soemone said, "STUPEFY!!!".....

(what do ya think? :) )

Barely had the door shut behind him, though, that Draco sighed, raised a hand to his eyes, and walked back into the dining room.

"Look, Scorpius..." he trailed off and draped an arm around his son's shoulders. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gotten angry. It's just... There are some very bad people in this house, who will have no qualms about hurting or killing you if you get in the way. They won't want you to leave, either, now that you know the Dark Lord is back."

"Ok," whispered Scorpius, shivering.

"So while you're here, promise me you'll keep your head down and avoid them- the Dark Lord, Bellatrix, Wolfbar- at all costs."

Scorpius nodded, only to happy to agree. "Who's Wolfbar?" he asked.

"Tall sort of bloke, very pale, greasy black hair... Bellatrix hates him, so he's developed a sort of nervous twitch and a tendency to rant. You'll know him when you see him." A short pause. "There's two other students here too- fifth years, I believe- Belinda and Oliver. Belinda's rather obsessed with the Dark arts, but Oliver's a decent sort." Draco took a deep breath, trying to fight the rising panic in his chest. "Inconspicuous, alright?"

"All right," Scorpius said. Then, "Dad?"

"Scorpius?"

"Are you all right? I mean, you're not in trouble or anything?"

Draco smiled sadly. "Not yet, no."

((All right, there was a bit of conflict up there, I believe that we all posted within a day of each other (it being the weekend the posts didn't come up as fast as usual). And my writing was really bad in the last post so we can disregard that if need be...

@ Holly- Scorpius is at Lestrange manor now. Floo network (which has now been cut off). So should we disregard my last post and Holly's last post...? If Holly's okay with that...?))

//Bellatrix//

The Dark Lord was standing in front of a roaring fire when Bellatrix entered. He turned to look at her with an odd expression on his face. "You're back... good. Any trouble?"

Bellatrix shook her head and knelt to kiss the hem of his robe. "No, my lord. However..." She trailed off, not entirely sure of how to phrase her next sentence.

"However?" the Dark Lord prompted.

She looked up at him. "Potter was there."

"And that's no longer trouble?" he asked mildly. "Did you kill him?"

The Death Eater hesitated. "No."

"No." He raised an eyebrow. "What, exactly, happened?"

"I had just come up to the Atrium after disconnecting the manor," Bellatrix said quietly, her eyes closed. "I was about to Disapperate when Potter showed up. Said some very nasty things." A frown passed briefly over her face. "Then he tried to stun me, I replied in kind..."

"But you didn't kill him." Disappointment dripped from every syllable.

"No, my lord..." She blinked back tears and looked up at her master.

"You were alone. With my enemy, whom you could easily have overpowered. And yet you did not kill him."

"My lord..."

He kicked her viciously. Bellatrix let out a soft hiss of pain and closed her eyes once more. She heard him snarl the curse and a half-second later the awful pain laced through her body.

She screamed....

...and screamed...

...and screamed...

((Just to be clear- a) Holly is not in Lestrange manor, and b) we are disregarding my last post and Holly's last post. Yes?))

//Wolfbar//

Wolfbar's head snapped up from the book he was reading (The Riverside Shakespeare- he thought perhaps it would earn him some much-needed points with Bellatrix). He recognized the sound that he heard immediately- it was someone screaming at the kind of pain that only the Cruciatas curse inflicted. Just hearing it made him flinch. Had Oliver, or maybe Malfoy's son, done something to anger Bellatrix or her master?

He almost immediately realized, though, that the voice was female- but Bellatrix would never torture Belinda, having taken such an inexplicable liking to her. The Dark Lord might, though... something made him shudder at the thought.

He really has no right to do that, Wolfbar found himself thinking. Just because he's tortured countless grown men if they disappoint him... haven't they done enough to Belinda already? To Oliver, as well...

He didn't know what he planned on doing about it- being blown to ashes because he had defied the Dark Lord was not on his agenda that evening- but he shut the book with a snap, not bothering to mark his page. Closing the door of Bellatrix's library softly, he went quietly down the stairs until he reached the parlour.

Glancing in, he gave a start. It wasn't Belinda lying on the floor, screaming as Voldemort held his wand above her. It was Bellatrix.

((So far as I know, yes.))

//Bellatrix//

The Dark Lord lifted the spell an indeterminable time later. Bellatrix stared up at him, panting.

"My lord..."

Her master let out a snarl of rage and stormed out of the room.

Bellatrix stared after him for a moment, then curled into a ball and sobbed.
