A Wrinkle in Time
Hi everybody! ...

Hi everybody!

I just finished reading “A Wrinkle in Time” and I’ve got to say, it is such an amazing book! I totally recommend it. When I first started reading it, I was really confused. I had no idea what the setting was, or what the characters were doing ! But trust me, once it makes sense you’ll love it! Anybody watched the movie yet? I wanted to read the book first, so I haven’t seen the movie yet. Which did you think was better?

I love A Wrinkle in Time! Personally, I think it's the best of L'engle's Time Quintet.

I've seen commericals for the movie, and it doesn't look particularly good. I'm sure I'll end up seeing it eventually, but, from what I've heard, it lost too much in the adaption process. Not surprising-- it's a very difficult story to adapt.

We're actually reading a Wrinkle in Time in our English class. Our teacher then confirmed that we're going to be renting the theater and the entire 7th grade will be watching the movie.

Sounds like a great English class!

Okay, I saw it. My short-but-sweet reveiw: The movie was good. The book was way better. But the movie had a Hamilton refrence.

Sorry if you didn't get it, but I'm a crazy Hamilton fangirl. I saw it with a friend (who is also a crazy fangirl) and we moved the armrest in between us and hugged each other and shook each other back and forth when we heard it and we must've looked so weird but it was the happiest moment I've had in a long time. And no one else in my family (or my sister's friend) who saw it with us got it!!

Okay, Hamilton rant aside, it was still good, although some parts were kinda random and I didn't really get them.

I loved the book and I really liked the movie. One thing I really didn't like about the movie though was that they took out Aunt Beast. Why?! That was one of my favorite parts!

A thing I thought was really cool was (spoiler alert) in the book, 'It' is a huge brain; and in the movie, 'It' is... still a huge brain, just executed differently. Google 'brain connections' and it looks exactly like the It in the movie, just less evil. This was actually a pretty good decision, because the book paints a picture of how evil and pulsing and threatening 'It' is in a way that a movie couldn't really pull off. It would look like a huge brain sitting on a table, and the characters would be obviously stuggling, but you wouldn't really get the feel of it.

Also, who else was amused by Oprah's eyebrow jewelry?

Just watched the movie! I really liked it,  but was a little disappointed that some things weren’t accurate. For example, in the book, Mrs. Whatsit turns into a centaur, but in the movie she turns into this weird lettuce monster or something! I think the makeup and clothing design was fenomenal though. There was so much detail in the fabric and Oprah’s eyebrow jewelry was super cool! Near the end of the book,  Calvin and Meg kiss, but in the movie they don’t. I was waiting for that to happen in the movie but it didn’t! Maybe it’s because they wanted everything to be PG, I don’t know. I can’t believe they took out Aunt Beast! That was my favorite part in the book for sure.

I was so annoyed about Aunt Beast! You see Aunt Beast's planet for like three seconds in the vision in the Happy Medium's cave thing (which was SO WEIRD but SO COOL LOOKING), but it's really not the same. Also they lost a lot because they cut the whole "What have I got that It hasn't got?" sequence, so that only people who read the book knew WHY loving Charles Wallace worked. My friend and I were whisper-chanting "KISS! KISS! KISS!" at the end with the reunion scene. I saw the mom and dad kissing and I was like, oh now Meg and Calvin will follow suit! But they DIDN'T! Argh! While we're on the subject of things I didn't like, I agree that they messed up Ms. Whatsit, and WHAT WAS THAT RANDOM SCENE WITH THE LIGHTNING CLOUD THEY DIDN'T EVEN NEED THAT WHYY?? Other than that, I really liked it.

Yeah, during the lettuce scene I was picturing Mrs. Whatsit yelling "II'M AAA LETTTTUUCCCEEE LAAADDDYYYYY" into the wind...

Funniest part of the movie.

Sorry to correct you, but ACTUALLY it's a quintet, meaning there are five books instead of three. They are as follows:

A wrinkle in time

A wind in the door

A swiftly tilting planet

Many waters

An acceptable time

She also wrote other books featuring the same characters, and they are:

The arm of the starfish

dragons in the waters

a house like a lotus

They come between Many Waters and An Acceptable Time, though they are not considered part of the Time Quintet. I have read the first four in the time quintet, and I still think the first was best. Hope this info helps!
