Chatterbox: Blab About Books

WARNING: Spoilers if you have not read the entire Harry Potter series!

Does anyone else find it funny that though the books are about Harry, he is actually one of the weakest characters? And he's so self centered (especially starting in book four) it's scary...

I think that Dumbledore should have told Harry more before he was killed. Not exactly. (If you have read all seven books you'll know what I meant when I said *not exactly killed*) I think Harry was a bit self-centered, but not too much. and I also think that Harry should not have wanted to be the owner of the Elder Wand. I mean, he wanted all of them, the whole shebang. I think he should have paid atention to protecting his freinds. iIthink he was a little obsessed.

Thanks! Our Internet had some problems, so I might've been a little less active. Welcome to the Chatterbox! :) Are you someone else on here calling herself Newbie? And, if you don't mind me asking, how do you know who I am if you're new?

Of the people who died throughout the series, those whose deaths affected me most were Dumbledore, Fred, and Lupin. Though I did get a little tired of reading "said Dumbledore calmly" and "Dumbledore said quietly" after a while.

For those who are going to be offended, I love the Harry Potter books. Just there are a couple af things that bug me.

I see your point, Brynne. :) Dumbledore was a bit... overly calm and quiet and times. :)

Same with me. I love the series too, but some parts are annoying. The battle scenes go on on waaayyy too long, for example.

I was so sad when Lupin died too. He was such a great character.

Yes, but I think she [JKR] does long battle scenes beause they appeal to some of the readers. Like, my younger brother judges a book by how much fighting there is. And a lot of writers have to do that, because it's what keeps some people reading. Not me personally, but I do know of such people.

But it was obvious tha Lupin was going to die, especially after the whole Harry-is-going-to-be-the-godfather  thing. Like James/Sirius. Same goes for Tonks, I suppose, though I'd hoped she might survive even if Lupin didn't... Fred, on the other hand- that was a differeny story. Kill Fred? WHY? I didn't really think that was necessary at the time I read it, though thinking it over I suppose the moral is that realistic good/evil wars have unexpected casualities...

I wish Tonks didn't die, too! Just after I was starting to really like her. I mean she is just one of those characters that grow on you, you know? Lupin is pretty cool, too. After I finished the whole series I started to LOVE werewolves. I think they're so cool. I guess vampires are cool, too ( even though I haven't ever read the Twilight books) but I think werewolves are cooler. Who else just CAN'T wait till the sixth movie is out?! In just four more days on the eleventh! It's coming out on the fifteenth of July!!!!!!!!( for the few Harry Potter fans who dont know when it's coming out)

Does anyone else think that Sirius was kind of a jerk a lot of the time?

Reading DH, I basically went, "Fred! SNAPE! NOOOOO SNAPE!!! ...BELLA! VOLDY! Wahh..." *sobsobsob*

I wanted Harry to just stay dead. But noooo, he had to go all "'ere! 'e says 'e's not dead" on us.
