His Dark Materials

THE BOOK OF DUST!
His Dark Materials...

His Dark Materials fans: The Book of Dust is out and it is FANTASTIC! I haven't finished it yet, having only gotten the book yesterday, but I'm about two-thirds through. It's SO good!

It is the first part of Philip Pullman's 'equal' to His Dark Materials series, called La Belle Sauvage. It takes place while Lyra is a baby and focuses on a new character: Malcolm, a curious, intelligent eleven year old boy who lives near the priory of nuns that look after Lyra in the aftermath of her father's famous duel with Lyra's mother's husband. The book includes some old, beloved characters, including Farder Coram and Lord Asriel, as well as a host of new ones.

If you have read and enjoyed The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass, I would highly recommend this book. It is absolutely wonderful. Philip Pullman is an incredible author, as he always has been, and the story is brilliantly written. If you haven't read His Dark Materials please do. It's one of the best series I've ever read and I would recommend it to anyone at all, young or old. (I actually got my grandmother into it this summer, as well as two of my younger cousins.)
