What if Neviele...

What if Neviele had been the chosen one?

I was just wondering what you guys thought about this. I know this is just an opinion thing but it might make an intersting discussion.

I think that Neviele is a strong charecter and a hero. He killed Nagini and was a leader in Dumbeldore's army. In the end he might have done just as well in that spot as Harry, but what about when he was a first year? Also would Neviele's mother even have sacrificed herself the way Lilly did? And would the golden trio be Neviele, Luna, and Ginny instead?

I've devoted many a lunch period pondering this. I think it depends on the way Harry turned out. If Harry's parents had lived but he had still been the kindhearted, encouraging hero he is in the books, I think Neville would be fine. But if Harry turned out to be somewhat like Dudley, self centered and a bit of an idiot, Neville would stay as he was in first year- insecure and cowardly. Herry has a big influence on Neville, like a role model. Harry encourages Neville and builds him up, so then Neville has the courage to be that hero.

well, for one, the book titles would be horrendous! i mean "Neville Longbottom and the Sorceror's stone", "Neville Longbottom and the Goblet of fire" etc.

I think Neville wouldn't actually have survived the first book. Particularly at the part when Professor Quirrel was trying to jinx Harry off his broom and Snape protected him. Snape only protected Harry because he was in love with Lily- he didn't care about either of Neville's parents and wouldn't have bothered saving Neville. Actually, Snape would probably still be a Death Eater, because if Neville was the chosen one then Lily would still be alive and Snape wouldn't have come to Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix.

BUT the whole snape-being-a-death-eater-thing would have meant that he wouldn't be a teacher sooo.....
