Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Messed up books?
Has anyone else...

Has anyone else ever bought a book, only to find that it's missing pages or has extra chapters?

As you can probably guess, I have. Multiple times.

I have three 'dud' books (as my mom calls them).

The first one I bought was part of the Magic Treehouse series (this was a long time ago, don't judge). I think it was called Christmas in Camelot, but either way, it's printed upside down. If you open up the book from the front, the words are upside down. It's actually really cool, and it's a nice book, too, since it's hardcover and has a little golden castle on the front.

My second book like this was Hoot (I forgot the author). This book has two extra chapters. Instead of the chapters going 10, 11, 12, it goes 10, 11, 10, 11, 12.

The third one I have is part of the Spiderwick Chronicles. I own the boxed set of these, and have wanted to read them for a long time, but only just got around to it last weekend. The second book of the series is the one that's messed up. All the pages are there, but the entire middle of the book is blank. There's just no words printed on them (which kind of makes me mad because I didn't get to read part of it and was confused for the rest of the book that actually WAS there).

Anyway, has this sort of thing happened to anyone else?

Those books may someday be valuable collectors items!

Back in my Harry Potter craze, I got a book that was called the History of Quidditch, and I opened it up, and it was printed UPSIDE DOWN AND BACKWARDS.  All the beginning stuff was in the back, and the end was at the beginning!  My mom told me it was supposed to be this way, but thinking back to it, I'm pretty sure it wasn't on purpose.

My dad once bought a book called Love in the Time of Cholera. However, as I was looking at it, I noticed it actually said Cholena. He opened it up, and it was just a photocopy! Badly done too! That's a terrible thing to happen because it means that whenever somebody buys the photocopied book, the author doesn't get any royalties from it. Not as cool as your books, though. Those were just publishing errors that probably will make them collectors' editions, as the Admin said!

My sister once got a book that was upside down. She still owns it and has read it so many times. I think it is really cool!

I have gotten three books (maybe just two? I can't think of the third, but I thought I had three...?) at used library book sales (all in awesome condition!!) that are signed by the authors! I can't get over how cool it is!! :)

I have a book called The Dragon Prince (or somethin like that) that has Chapter 10 and 11 repeated. It goes 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 10, 11, 12, etc! I do really like the book though, I think it's very good.

I have a Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: The Hammer of Thor that has some of its pages in middle blank. But if you look close, some are actually just really pale. I think those are printed as the printer runs out of ink.
