Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Peter and the Starcatchers
Okay, I realize...

Okay, I realize that I am the odd one out, I read the books that no-one else does, but I still have the hope that I can spark interest in these excellent reads and give you all some more variety.

*stage whisper* I've never read Harry Potter, secret confessionSurprised!

Peter and the Starcatchers are by Dave Barry.  They are the real story of Peter Pan, why he and the Lost Boys never age, and how Peter always has an unlimited supply of "pixie dust" (which they call starstuff).  Oh yeah, and how Tinker Bell started hanging around Peter in the first place.

Instead of posting about the storyline, I hereby challenge all Chatterboxers to go to your local library, read the Starcatchers series, and come back and tell me what you think.  If you do it, you pass the "I don't just read Harry Potter/Percy Jackson test."  Comment if you are doing it!

I think you'll find you're not the only one who reads books like this. Because I read the entire series while I was in Hawaii! It was absolutely incredible. I would definitely read it again.

[Hey, my papa's a barrister. Are you a barrister too? ;) ]

I have read the seriess and loved it! I keep trying to get my sister to read it, but she never does. But she's a picky book reader and doesn't really like fantasy. But she does like reshearch books!

I don't have access to that series unfotunatley, but I think I pass the test because I have not read (and don't know who/what) Harry Potter or Percy Jackson.

My brother really liked those books. I read the first three, and I think he read all of them. Also, I haven't read Percy Jackson.

I love the Starcatchers series! I've read them all numerous times. I do read PJ and HP, but tons more besides that. Has anyone read "Where the Mountain Meets the Moon"? It's by Grace Lin. I really think that her writing is amazing and inspiring.

Oh, thank goodness!  No, no barrister dad, but I am so glad that I am not the only absolute nerd here!  There are others who will journey beyond the well-known into Starcatchers.  Yes, I agree with all of you, the books are incredible!

AAAH I LOVE THOSE BOOKS! If we are thinking of the same one did you know that there is a new one? Set in our time? I think it's called 'The Bridge to Neverland'...

Dude!!!! I got it on hold at my library!  It is so good and interesting!  Yeah, it is called the Bridge to Neverland.  I loved it.  If you haven't read it, read it!  I really hope they make a new one soon!  I love them way too much!

Hey, I am sorry.  I wasn't trying to be mean, and stereotype all of you into one category, since I know that is certainly not all people read.  It was a joke, because I never know what people are talking about when the topic is Harry Potter or Percy Jackson!

I read this long ago!

You see, since I almost exclusively shop at thrift stores, I get all the books that no one likes/wants anymore/knows about. I loved Peter and the Starcatchers! It was really neat to read about how they imagined Neverland had come about. Sure, my copy had the second-to-last page missing. But it was still really good!
