Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Tea Room
...

This is the official tea room where you can talk about books. Use correct grammar and spell words correctly. You may order food and tea, so please, enjoy. I say, Susan, the Harry Potter series is really good! Oh, waiter, could I get some mint tea? Oh, wait, make that two mint teas!

Very good tea there. I would like a lemon bar, now, please. Has anyone read "The Cabinet of Wonders"? A very good book. Oh! Delicious lemon bar!

Has anyone here ever read Sovay, by Celia Reese?? Very, very good story about a girl who turns highwayman. Set in England in the 1800's (??) full of mystery and intrigue. For people who really hate weak characters *coughtwilightcough* read it!!! Btw are we excluding any certain types of books here??

Thank you, that lemonade was delicious! I think I will try a lemon bar now, they seem to be quite popular.

The 100 Cupboards is a book I highly recommend. Has anyone else read it?

Purple Prose is writing that's over decorated and over fancy. Wikipedia it, and there are some really funny examples. :D

Haha, you're right. "Somnambular accomodations" instead of "bedroom." Fairly odd. And they did mention Smeyer's horrendous purple prose, also. :)

And I quoth:

"Stephanie Meyer's Twilight books have been heavily criticised for their constant and unrelenting use of purple prose throughout the entire series."

And I unquoth. Rather pitiful that Wikipedia can't spell "criticized," of course, but none the less.

Yes, Cabinet of Wonders was a terrific book.

Jut because my post seems a bit blunt and forward compared to the rest of yours, I will add this:

/British accent/ Ah. *sips mint tea* Lovely. *smiles peaceably* Ah, ah, ah. How lovely. Simply lovely, would you agree?

Does that work?

Mary, FYI, "ise" is the British spelling in many words in which American English uses "ize." And it really was the Brits' language first! So I accept either spelling.

Also, pretty much all of the pages in Wiki are done by everyday people who want to share their info.  :)  You can edit other people's stuff too.
