Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Danny Dunn Series
Has anyone read...

Has anyone read any of the Danny Dunn books? They're a series about a boy whose father died when he was very small, and so for as long as he can remember, he has lived at the house of a famous professor with his mother. Professor Bullfinch is a rather eccentric character who has taught Danny about many aspects of science. Every new thing he learns, it seems, is then put to the test in a strange adventure. For instance, in one book, he and Professor Bullfinch discover an extremely strong circular magnet. Somehow, this discovery turns into a quest (with Danny's friends Joe and Irene and the Professor's friend) to find a mythical-or maybe not so mythical-giant thing in the heart of Africa.

Very interesting, slightly educational, and vividly enthralling! I recommend them.

Danny Dunn and the Swamp Monster (the one I'm reviewing here.)

Danny Dunn and the Anti-Gravity Paint

Danny Dunn and the Automatic House

Danny Dunn and the Weather Machine

There are several more, but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.
