Doesn't mean a thing, m'dear. It's called Ensemble Darkhorse (when a character other than the main one (i.e, every other character) has more fans than the protagonist enself, especially when a minor character garners a mad fandom faster than the mains). Just because the books revolve around him doesn't mean we have to like him, yes?
I hate him because he and his friends killed all of my favourite characters, because he hated Snape, because he didn't learn from his mistakes, because he always had to be right, because he was a Gary Stu towards the end, because he killed Voldy... Because he DIDN'T DIE at the end...

Thank you TNO, I just thought that J.K. Rolwing didn't mean for the antagonists to be the prefered charecters to the protagonists.My mum's friend (a librarian) told me about Ensemble darkhose but I forgot what it was called.I don't have a problem with everyone lothing Harry Potter, I think everyone likes him to much, in the books (except for slitherians)and he gets into to much misctef at times, is to perfect at times and never gets in trouble with the ministry of magic.But, suprizingly I still think he is a pretty good guy and is verry persistant about getting even with Voltemort for killing his Mummy and Daddy.
P.S. Who is Gary Steu?????

@ Elizabeth: A Gary Stu is a boy chracter that is "too perfect". But I do not believe Harry Potter is as perfect as everyone says. WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE HIM?????
P.S. A Mary Sue is a girl character who is "too perfect."

Hannah, when you say "too perfect do you mean like perfects (like Percy, Ron and Herminone) or do you mean a real person that is too perfect??

It's not 'perfects', it's 'prefects'. And by too perfect we mean that the person is right in every way and they are such a "wonderful" person that they drive us all crazy.

Um, I never said that I HATE him, he's just not my favorite character. There are other characters that I like more than him. I don't *lOVE* him or *HATE* him. He's just not my favorite character.

I don't hate Harry-the-character, but I don't love him. Also—I wouldn't compare him to Jesus at all, actuallly. Can you picture Jesus yelling at Dumbledore and destroying his posessions? When you think about it, Harry isn't as Stu-like as some people say he is...

@ E.W.: Hermione, Percy, and Ron aren't perfect. They're prefects, which is entirely different. However, the term 'Gary Stu' is usually used for story and movie characters, as, although they aren't interesting too watch/read about, I don't think anyone would really go up to someone and say, "You're too perfect! You need some flaws!", would they?

I liked the books, but the last few did get pretty dark, what with people's hands getting lopped off and thrown in cauldrons and all that... but I really liked some of the characters. *squees loudly* TONKS!!

I love Tonks too! She's so bubbly and fun. I was upset with how little she was in the HP6 movie.
