NOT A WARRIORS ROLE-PLAY OR TWILIGHT FAN-FEST OR REALISTIC FICTION
This is a...

This is a thread for anything except realistic fiction*, Warriors**, or Twilight***. These have been taking over the front page, and it's really annoying (not the realistic fiction, though) So, a thread for anything BUT WARRIORS, TWILIGHT, OR REALISTIC FICTION.

My reactions to those books/genres:

* :p not so bad sometimes
** :P Yuck. Stagnant
*** *wishes it had never been written* *dies in horror of the fact that it has*

Bartemaeus was wonderful... and Kitty rockedrockedrocked! Looking back, Natty was sort of like Wolfbar, actually, except that Wolfbar is sooo much more interesting... ;)

The whole subplot with Ptolemy was extremely well done, in addition.

SPOILER ALERT: Natty's death? Great ending, but... *sniff* ...a bit sad; I thought he and Kitty might get together. (Nice, though, that the last words were, "Tell Kitty hello"- not goodbye, hello.) I don't begrudge that it was a truly fitting ending, though.

Anyone read the Pit Dragon cycle, by Jane Yolen?

For those who haven't: It's sort of like Eragon, but IMHO better. Takes place on a desert world (think Tatooine from Star Wars, more or less - same sort of spacefaring premise too, but the action hasn't left that planet so far). Three are out already: Dragon's Blood, Heart's Blood, and A Sending of Dragons, with a fourth coming (ha ha, pun... never mind). Really worth reading.

Libba Bray is good.  She wrote A great and terrible Beauty and though its not great, I still think its pretty good.
