The epitome of

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Lord of the Rings
The epitome of...

The epitome of modern epics. Everyone's heard of it; J.R.R. Tolkein is practically a household name. I myself have only recently acquired a taste for Tolkein's rambling, and am about halfway through the first part (Fellowship of the Ring).

Partly 'cause I want your opinions; partly in an attempt to counteract the Warriors craze.

Discuss.

Thanks, TNO!! I love LoTR!!! Legolas is my favorite for sure. Then comes Merry and Pippin, then Sam and Frodo, and Strider...........and so on................I read the entire trilogy in two weeks, no joke. And I was in fourth grade..............

Yeah, LoTR rocks! My family named our Border Collie/Australian Cattle Dog mix Pippin, except she's a girl, unlike Pippin from the books. I think it took me about a month to read LoTR, but I was in third grade. :)

Cool!

Like I said, I only just recently started reading them. I'm at the part where Frodo & Co. have been found by that Elf guy whose name escapes me, with the five Black Riders chasing them, and they're going to Rivendell.

What exactly is LotR about? I've only read the prelude, The Hobbit. Talk aout verbosity... but it was good.

I'm a real Tolkien geek, which you can probably tell from my name. Not quite as much as my sister though...
