I know what

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Caught in the Act: By Rosalina Williams
I know what...

I know what you're all thinking. You've never heard of this person nor this book before. That's because that is my book for NaNoWriMo and that person is my psydoneum! Here's the first chapter.

CHAPTER 1

Elizabeth watched as the silvery blood spilled onto the arena floor. However could her mother, father and sister watch this?! The Pegasi ran at each other again, causing more blood to stain the floor. Elizabeth shut her eyes as the scream of a dying Pegasus rang through the room.

“TWIG WINS!” The announcer cried. The people in the arena leapt to their feet, cheering madly. Elizabeth stood up, feeling sick. She pushed past her twin sister, Elle, and left the box. Her mom, Queen Rebeca, sighed annoyedly, but said nothing. Elizabeth was surprised, but didn’t show it. Who knew when Queen Rebeca would break into a rant?!

Hiking up her dress so she could run, Elizabeth headed for the lavatories. Once she was refreshed, she veered away from the arena. She didn’t know how much more Pegasi slaying she could take. Quietly, she headed for the kitchen. Maybe Cook Ian would be able to give her a treat to calm her raging stomach.

“IAN. WOOM. GET IN HERE!” Elle screamed. She would only call servants by their names, and never their title, such as simply Cook or Cook Ian. Elizabeth winced as Cook Ian groaned and stomped up the stairs. Quietly, she slipped out of the room, sipping the last of her chamomile tea as she did.

i wonder if I ciuld see the Pegasi, thought Elizabeth. Queen Rebeca certaintly wouldnt approve, and neither would Elle, but Father wohkdnt mind, qould he? Elizabeth decided against it and slid back out to the final fight of the day.

"And finally, we have Winter versus Skull!!!" The crowd cheered loudly again, and Elle grinned widely.

"A newcomer? Versus Skull? He's dead meat." Elle hissed to Elizabeth. Elizabeth ignored her. She was too busy focused on the newcomer. Winter.

He was the most beautiful Pegasus Elizabeth had ever seen.

Wow, this is really interesting! I love the characters and the worldbuilding you've done so far. Keep it up! Also, poor pegasi.

Please continue posting this!

Wow, thanks Abi! That really means a lot to me, coming from the CBer like you! :)

CHAPTER 2

Everyone gasped collectively. Skull slammed into the side of the arena and came up, looking dazed. Elizabeth nearly shrieked with glee. Only one thought was running through her head: Would he survive? Winter shied nervously away from the Pegasus looking at him angrily. Finally Elizabeth knew she had to put a stop to this. She stood up and shrieked.

"Stop the fight!!" Elizabeth cried. Everyone froze. They turned towards the royal box. Her face was red, but she stood fast. Elle and Queen Rebeca looked at her, incredulous, and Father simply seemed to sink into his seat with embarrassment.

"These inhuman fights have gone on long enough. We should be treating these Pegasi with respect, not killing them all! Did you ever think about what would happen if you killed ALL the Pegasi? There'd be no more for the fighting! Or riding! Or anything else fun! Stop the fights, Father! Now!"

CHAPTER 3

Father shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Elle stood up and started screaming at Elizabeth.  “Elizabeth, are you insane! Oh my Ayeorth, I hate you! You know the Pegasus fights are a tradition. Why would you ever say to stop them?! Dad, don't stop them.” Elle looked at their father with big puppy eyes.

King Lionel decided. “The fights are postponed until tomorrow. Elizabeth, I'm very disappointed in you. Go to your room." Elizabeth held her head high. The entire room was silent. Elizabeth ran down the hallway to her room, flopped onto the bed and wept.

She was weeping with tears of joy and sadness. Joy for the fact that the fight was poseponed, but sadness for the fact that the beautiful Winter would still have to fight. She closed her eyes and thought. What can I do to get Winter out of there? Finally, she knew. She slipped out the door.

She was headed to the PCU.
