THE BOOK THIEF...
THE BOOK THIEF BOOK CLUB!!!
This is another name for: Everyone who has read The Book Thief can come on here, say what they don't like, what they do like, and spoil the whole book! Spoilers ahead, so please leave if you haven't read the book.
1. WHY DID MAMA, AND PAPA, AND RUDY HAVE TO DIE? And basically everyone else on Himmel Street. Almost all of the main charries died!!! At least Max was still alive. And Liesel lived a long life.
2. I was happy when the mayor and the mayor's wife took Liesel in. The mayor's wife was very nice.
3. I like that the book is narrated from the point of view of Death. It's pretty cool that the author made death into a person.

Such a good book! But not for younger readers... There were lots of bad words.

Hey, that's kind of funny, because I just watched the film version last night! It was really good, but obviously not as good as the books (movies are usually like that)..
But yeah, I know what you mean about everyone dying, but the purpose of the book is to show the cruelness of people during WW2. That's the type of thing that happened during that time period. If Rudy, Mama, Papa, Max, Liesel, all lived, it really wouldn't be realistic. But I agree, it's sad. It reminds people of humanity's dark side.
I love the little inputs from Death! He seems like he would be a nice person once you get to know him... ;)I think the book is such a masterpiece. It sums up humanity as not totally good, not totally evil, but a mixture of both.
And you know, the bombing on Himmel Street was a mistake, a misread on the map. It was just an honest mistake, which makes it so much more tragic.
