CHAPTER 1
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
CHAPTER 1
“But-”
“No, Ellie, we have nothing to worry about, Kronos shall NOT rise again! Now unless you have anything important to say, hold your tongue!” Zeus boomed. Yeah, so there I was, Ellie Castro, getting yelled at by the king of all gods. Typical.
I mean sometimes I feel as if I am the only one using their brain, except Athena (and no I am not just saying that because she is my mom). A rumor had been going around that Lord Kronos was close to rising, I just suggested that we be a little more prepared. We want him to be scared, not welcome, for Hades sake there was a welcome, please wipe feet mat at our front door. But noooo, Zeus say we’re on a “budget.” Yeah right, like the gods have to watch their money!
“If it makes you feel better,” Aphrodite started, “I thought it was a good idea.” And that did make me feel better. Everything you have ever heard about the goddess Aphrodite is wrong (well, most of it). Yes she is the goddess of love and beauty (and the most beautiful woman you will ever see) but she doesn’t like to show off. In fact, right now she is a plain purple shirt, jeans and flats. Hera is the showoff. No matter where she is, that goddess will be wearing her diamond encrusted crown. Anyway if Aphrodite likes my idea then I know it’s good, she--next to Athena--is the smartest of the 12. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, no one is going to listen to 15 year old olympus intern.
“So now let’s get to something important,” Hera says giving me the evil eye. “What do you think of this crown? Should the jewels be blue, or pink?” Hera asked. She is so full of herself! Wait, so Zeus will listen to Hera’s crown rants, but not a little idea for more protection? Typical.
No, this is the last straw.
“Are you really talking about your crowns again?” I started.
“Ellie what did I-” Zeus tried.
“Zip it!” I snapped, and turned back to Hera. “News flash, both crowns are ugly, so yesterday!” I shrieked, mimicking her high, shrill voice perfectly. I stormed out of the room, hearing Aphrodite stifled a laugh. Great! How in Hades is Mom gonna rope me out of this?
~~~
Lying in bed, I hear the faint owl call of my pet, Starfish, yeah I know, strange name. Starfish has been with me for as long as I can remember. She is always there for me. A black feather falls from the sky. Great, starfish has golden feathers. There was a huge gust of wind against my face, and Athena appeared. With a great sigh I speak “how can I help you?” Deciding it was not the time to fool around, I get out of bed, and face her. “I’m sorry, about, um, today,” I say. She nodded.
“Look, maybe it’s time you take a break, this is the fifth outburst this week!” she said. I braced myself waiting to get fired, but then, “Hera, Hera and I think It may be best if you fulfilled a quest.” Considering Hera thought of this, I’m probably going to have to clean the bottom of the River Styx. I thought of saying this, but voted against it. “So, Poseidon, told Zeus that he has a demigod son, like you,” she started. She had to remind me, I either want to be normal or a goddess, not in between! “And he thought it was about time he learned who he was, just in case you are right about, you know what.” She gave me a wink and vanished.
~~~
I woke to the sound of dolphin chirps at 6:oo am. I slowly lumber out of bed and turn my alarm clock off. Looking a little to the left, I see a small golden letter from Hera. I figured I would be lost on my quest without reading it.
Dear Ellie, I know you are mostly a loner, but in this particular time I need you to be friendly! I know for you it will be hard, but at least give it a try. Anyway your quest will be taking place in Leo’s high school, forewarned he is known to have an ego. That will be all, best wishes, Hera
Wow, what a pep talk! I already knew that the quest would take place in Redder Free’s High School. For your information I am not happy about going back to high school. But, I really don’t want to admit it, Hera was right about the big ego. I did a little research, it turns out that Leo Herc is one of the most known people in school, he’s on the football team, and surprisingly he has an A- average in most of his classes.
Walking down the stair in a purple shirt and shorts, I hear whispers from the kitchen, but they come to an abrupt stop when Hera and Mom see me. “Hey! How ya’ doin?” Hera said in a way too chirpy voice. I noticed why, when I saw a cheat sheet poking out of her pocket. “This?” she asked, following my gaze, “oh, these are some friends I have in the
School, for instance, Jenny O’Leary, will pose as your first friend there so you ‘fit in’,” she finished. I didn’t want a friend, not after what happened last time with Leanna.
Leanna and I both tried for the internship, and, well I got It. Leanna was acting fiercer than the furies! She made my life miserable until she moved to Rome.
Athena gave me a copy of his last English paper. I guess it was okay except, he got Hephaestus and Hermes mixed up. Well I guess there’s that A- for you, but I guess for someone who thinks he’s a mortal, it was pretty good. “Remember,” Hera said, in a fake sugary sweet tone. “You are a transfer student from?” she asked.
“Sacramento, California,” I answer immediately.
“Good,” she replied. “You top his grade with an A+ average.” Wow, like I didn’t already know this. I wouldn’t have taken the quest If I had to get a lower average. I nod, making sure she know that I want some FOOD! “Oh, Ellie, why don’t you grab something to eat before you go,” Athena said.
“Thank you!” I say exasperated. I grab some grapes, shove them into my mouth and head off to high school. But with my books, and maybe more grapes. On my way out, I passed Artemis.
“You do know you have to walk or take the bus, you can’t just appear,” she said. Shoot, I completely forgot. Trying to walk past her Artemis held out her arm to stop me, “Here,” she handed me a folded piece of paper. “Be sure to open it at the right time otherwise it serves no purpose.”
“Wait, when is ‘the right time’?” I asked her but she was already gone.
~~~
Long story short, High school buses stink (literally). I will never ride on it again, I don’t care, I’ll just walk. Though I did find Jenny although kinda in a strange way. I got on the bus, and the doors closed and the bus lurched to a start (while I was walking down the bus line) I fell to me knees and my sandy blonde hair whipped into my face. I don’t know what was redder, my freckles, or my face! My gray eyes were flowing with annoyance. Jenny was sitting in the seat I fell next to. “Are you…” she looked at a sheet of paper “Allie Castro?”
“Ellie Castro,” I corrected. She waved me over, next to her.
“Hera told me you were looking for Leo Herc?” I nodded. “Lucky you.” oh, great that sounded promising. The bus parked in front of Redder Free’s, and we all file out. I easily found Leo Herc, he has short, spiky, brown hair, blue, brown eyes, and standing next to the devel. Thats right Leanna had somehow made her way back from tartars and ended up here. “Alright, now just walk over to the front door to Marry and Matthew, they are waiting for us. I reluctantly walk past leanna, and leo trying to be unnoticed, no such luck, can my day get any worse, (actually forget I said that, ‘any worse’ questions always end up badly).
“Ellie? Ellie Castro? It’s me! Leanna Shasy, from, let me see, two, no three years ago!” Leanna excitedly purred. As much as I don’t want to say it, Leanna looked good, she was, definitely one of the popular ones here. You know, the people who have everyone eating out of the palms of their hands. Her golden hair was pulled back hastily with a hot pink sunglasses, a long purple stripe raced down hair. Despite the heat she was in jeans, and a bright blue tank top. Her icy blue eyes seemed to shimmer in the sunlight, but they were still impossible to read.
I plastered on a fake smile, “no way, Leanna, I have missed you so much, I lost your phone number. Really, I turned half my house upside looking for it. You know me I could lose my head in that house, It’s, like, as big as olympus!” what? What is the use for card if you don’t use it once in awhile? Leanna looked shocked, guess I should use that card more often.
Giving me a smile that could melt the polar ice caps she said, “Ellie, you must be new here! I could show you around.” yeah like I would want a harpy as a tour guide! I look to Jenny, she was as speechless as me.
“Well, um, you know I was kinda, kinda in charge to, um, show Ellie around,” Jenny squeaked. I then realized Jenny was just like everyone else; second guessing everything around someone as popular as leanna. I get it, that’s how people used to act around me, (yes all you surprised people this nerdy olympus intern was voted most popular in 8th grade).
“Ohh, Jenny is it? I insist, you must have a lot to do, I do believe that Mary and Matthew are coming over now,” Leanna was right, Mary was a pretty girl. She was walking over with Matthew, who was no doubt her brother, Marry was in a pink tee-shirt a denim jacket, a frilly skirt. Matthew was wearing a basketball shirt, and shorts (your regular boy for you). You could easily tell, that they liked to stay in the background, shadow-dwellers.
“Jenny there is a mega problem in Mr. banag’s classroom, one of the experiments exploded!” Mary examined, wow I would love to be that experiment right now. “We need your help!” Mary said after eyeing Leanna. Matthew grabbed her arm and rushed after his sister into the heart of Redder Free’s.
“Well it’s settled, I’ll show you around!” Leanna said.that girl is a walking exclamation point, right now I think I am a coma the most ‘commonly used (okay yeah sorry for the pun, I promise no more corny puns). Anyway, I didn’t want to go anywhere with a harpy in lipstick, but she took my hand and led me off. After we passed the cafeteria she led me down a staircase and through a secret passageway. “You better go back to the Hades palace you call home,” she started, any kindness was scared away by the real evil spirit that haunts Leanna. “My, by capturing you my boss will be very pleased with me!” Leanna shoved me-hard-against the wall, and metal handcuffs trapped me against the it. “You don’t know how long I have been waiting for this,” Leanna gave me her famous evil grin. She brought out a drachma (the godly coin) and a bottle of water out of her purse. She made a small puddle of water and through the drachma in, she was iris messaging? “Lord Kronos!” she said giddily. A figure appeared in the waving image, clearly annoyed with being called.
“Leanna, this had better be good,” He spoke. If anyone tried to convince me that that wasn’t Kronos, I would load them up on a bus to a mad house. “ Your plan for overthrowing olym-” Leanna cut him off.
“Shh, shh, Elizabeth Castro the girl you wanted is over there,” she pointed at me. I waved maybe the would have mercy if I was friendly, (yeah I know, if you were Kronos, you wouldn’t have mercy, don’t rub it in)! Leanna pushed a button, and the handcuffs shocks me (I mean, who shocks there prisoners, ya know what? Don’t answer that).
“Ow!” I said.
“Oh, be quiet!” Leanna screeched, and shoved something into my mouth. The image faltered and Kronos faded away. Leanna looked beyond mad, she sashayed away stopping before the door, “by the way, That thing in your mouth, Is Leo’s old Gym sock, and don’t worry you won’t be here long.”
“That’s right I won’t be here long, Jenny will be here soon!” I cried. But Leanna was already gone.
~~~
I woke still cuffed to the wall, Leanna would pay for this. Okay, I thought, All I have to do, is figure how to break the cuffs. Hmm, break, cut, “My knife!” I yelled. I had completely forgot about my knife. I bring it with me everywhere I go just in case I run into any monsters. I couldn’t reach it, why, does Leanna have to bring all of her revenge on me?
“Ellie?” someone opened the door. I had to squint to avoid going blind, Leanna didn’t have the courtesy of leaving the light (typical villain). “You guys, she’s over here!” the voice yelled to some other people. I got used to the brightness, and I noticed Jenny, Mary, Matthew looking at me in horror.
“Thank Zeus you're okay!” Jenny voice filled me with reassurance. I started to feel like I was holding the weight of the world.
“Guys, were losing her,” Matthew said in a tense strain.
“My… P-p- pocket,” My voice surprised me. I felt so weak, like I had a tiny grasp on reality, then something unimaginable happened, I lost my grasp.
~~~
“Uhh,” I moaned I felt like the minotaur just stomped on my head.
“Hmm, stay still Dear,” I looked up to see a woman in her mid thirties. “Now would be the time,” she got up and left the room. Time? Did this lady not notice I just recovered from a coma? I reached for my coat, and realized that my knife was gently placed in the right pocket. I reached into the nearest pocket, did Athena know something like this would happen? Did she give me something that could help? No, not Athena. Artimis. The note! I quickly brought it out of my pocket.
I Knew You would know when to open this. You must have met Leanna, and Leo. Anyway I went down to the Grove of Dodona, and got a prophecy for you.
The sun will rise to block the dark side
You have to stand tall and never hide
The enemy from the past
Will now be a friend to last
And seek wisdom in the one named clyde
You know, Apollo said that a limerick proficy, in the most dangerous. Good luck from the bottom of my heart Artemis
Wow thanks for the awesome info Artemis! I couldn’t wait any longer I needed to to a friend (yeah I no I said I have no friends, well, I lied). Technically she’s more of relative, skyler Katie Lane daughter of Zeus, and my best friend, should get me an easy access to Leo, and the devel harpy. I picked up my coat, and note, ignoring the the dull throbbing in my head. I rushed out the door, not looking where I was going, I tripped over something and fell flat on my face (that sure helped my headache)!
“Whoa, I am so sorry,” I pushed myself up and turned, I found myself face to face with Leo Herc maybe I didn’t need too much help from Skyler after all! “Here let me help you-” he stopped cold when he saw my knife. “Um, w-what’s with the kn-knife?” he asked.
“Oh, um, that’s uh,” Think! I thought, I decided to use the pity card though pity is the worst thing ever! “It’s, just the last thing I have of my, um, Mom. She passed away in the army. She used to teach me how to cook things and cut them perfectly. Since my father owned a bakery my mom did some of the cooking, and, um, she was really good,” I said putting my hair behind my hair, If I know anything about boys, it that they like to feel like their intimidating. Leo stared at me for a second, he nodded,and handed me my knife.
“Wow, It’s amazing,” he said. I looked at him astonished that he thought my fake mom was dead was amazing. I gave him a Hera worthy evil eye. “I mean, It’s amazing how gullible you think I am. Now what is the real reason you have a knife at a high school?”
“I-” I was cut off by something much more scary than explaining my knife.
“Leo why are you talking to that? She has, like, negative 44 popularity points,” Leanna cooed to Leo. She put her arm around Leo’s neck, and guided him somewhere my tour guide forgot to cover.
I started to follow them, until I heard a familiar voice, “Well, I might of liked to be notified a bit better, for Hate's sake, I heard you were here, because some girl said that there was a 99.99999% chance you were dead!” the only person who could be mad at a family reunion, was the one and only, Skyler. “I wouldn’t spend my time following those two,” she pointed as Leo and Leanna rounded a corner. “So do I get an explanation, of why my fave olympus intern is here?” first of all It is a very good thing that I am favorite, she only knows one olympus intern, but I did tell her why I was here, that took me forever.
“Wow, well I am speechless, but I do have a question,” Skyler said. I nodded while pulling back my hair with a zebra print hairband. “Can I actually show you around, ‘cause, seeing your schedule, you might miss English, and Mrs. Johnson doesn’t like when you late,” Skyler said.
“Well, I have always been an A+ student, that is not about to stop!” I said regaining my confidence.
“Lucky for you, you have to exact same schedule as Leo,” Sky said accusingly. Wow, maybe Hera did actually like me (or leo)!
~~~
“Miss. Castro?”
“Here, Mrs. Johnson!” I said. English, I really think that I have run out of luck, they’re apparently studying greek mythology. I know pretty much everything there is to know about it, this is going to be an easy A!
“Can anyone name the twelve major gods?” Mrs. J asked. Leo and I were the only people who shot our hands in the air. Mrs. J looked at me confused, “Miss Castro, I understand that good grades are important to you, but you just got here I don’t expect you to know things that took our smartest boys weeks to memorize.” Oh she did not just say that! Boys? Smartest Boys? Does she not understand that we girls are worth more than second class jobs, that were too lowly for boys, some teacher! “Leo,” she said in a much sweeter tone than she used with me. “Why don’t you answer?”
“Uh,” Leo started, I was most likely imagining it, but I could have sworn he was looking at me with pity! Oh, no I take pity from no person! “Um, I would actually like to, uh, hear Miss Castro-er-Ellie answer, if that's okay with you,” Leo said smiling at me.
I didn’t wait for Mrs. J to answer, even if Leo wanted me to embarrass myself for not knowing anything, I was going to blow Mrs. J away! “Simple, Zeus: Sky, Poseidon:sea, Hades: underworld, Hera: family, Hermes: messenger, Hefestus: forger of godly things, Demater: nature, Apollo: sun, Artemis: Hunting, Athena: wisdom and battle strategies, Aphrodite: love and beauty, Ares: war, and finally, Dionysus: god of wine. But that's just what I, the new Girl, thinks.” Mrs. J and Leo were speechless, “Oh, I’m sorry did you want me to include their spirit animal?” I said, with maybe just a little cocky-ness. Mrs Johnson simply shook her head.
~~~
Leo caught up to me after class, “So now would be as good as ever time to tell me about you knife, and how you knew all that stuff about Myths.” I knew I would have to tell him sooner or later, I was just kinda hoping it would be later.
“I-I,” I spotted someone rounding the corner. “Say something hurtful and mean,” I whispered at Leo. He looked at me strangely, “just do it!” I hissed.
“Okay, sheesh, Uhh,” He looked behind him and finally realized. “What do you think you're doing?” Loud enough for Leanna to hear, I backed up against one of the lockers and forced myself to look afraid, to shrink down, to try and be invisible. He had an evil snarl now “You’re lucky I don’t make the rules, otherwise you and your nerdy friends wouldn’t even be allowed in the same school as me!” When Leanna walked by, He “accidentally” knocked my bag over so the contents spilled from it, I made a whimpering sound for good measure.Leanna looked at me with and smirk, and shrugged. When Leanna vanished into the nearest classroom Leo helped me pick up my things.
“So now will you tell me what’s going on?” Leo asked in a playful annoyness.
“I-I, can’t, you wouldn’t believe me anyway,” I turned around and started to walk away, when Leo grabbed my arm. His grip wasn’t firm I could wriggle out of it at any moment, I had an itching feeling that he knew. “Fine!” I say irritated, “But we have to go somewhere where people can’t, won’t eavesdrop,” I gave in. Without warning Leo started to walk up the stairs I didn’t have to follow him, I felt like I should though.
He led me into a beautiful room with books lining the walls from Harry potter to the cat in the hat.
“Okay, so, you know the gods right?” I asked.
“Well not personally,” he said playful, he had no idea what he was getting into. “You?”
“Yes, actually, we’re very close. I ha-have a question, what, what do You know about you d-dad?” I hit a weak spot I saw it on face, when His tan went to pale shade of melancholy.
“He, he was part of the Marines, He sailed out on a mission right before I was born. My mom told me that one day he would be back, that one day I would get to meet him,” He literally had no expression.
“I am really sorry. Okay, try to follow, all of the gods and ‘myths’ are real, You- your dad is poseidon. Before you protest, or speak in general, my mother is Athena, I don’t know my father, I am really an olympus intern, and I can take you to see your dad,” He perked up on the last part.
~~~
“What are you doing?” Leo asked me.
“Shh, follow me,” I led leo over to a hippocampal It’s like a sea rainbow unicorn (not a narwal, I repeat not a narwal). “Hold on she goes pretty fast,” I smiled as we sailed through magic to get to Olympus. Leo’s grip was now iron on my shoulders. The fog (mist), swirled around my face. My hair flew violently behind me, I felt kinda of bad for Leo. “This, is what I live for,” I muttered to myself. Normally if I want to go for a ‘joy ride,’ I would soar through the water on my hammerhead shark (courtesy of Poseidon) named Hammer (I think of the best names I know). But I was pretty sure that Leo would have, just a little bit, freaked out if I led over to a normally evil creature.
“This, this is so… amazing,” Leo said softly. I felt him loosen his grip, good, son of Poseidon should feel free in the sea. I smiled to myself, one day quest, Mom, no Hera, will be impressed.
The ride felt so short, then again, most of my sea ride feel that way. “Well, welcome to my casa!” I said. Leo looked at me confused, “ casa? My house. Wow you are lucky you don’t have spanish class!” I said teasing him a bit. I waved him to the front. I heard a howl, and saw Leo jump back
“Cerberus? Is that you boy?” I ask oblivion. There was a whimper and a giant three headed dog, Cerberus, Hades dog appeared. Leo jumped about eleven feet in the air. “Oh, you poor dog come here,” I soothed. But Cerberus couldn’t come someone had tied him to the giant statue of Hera, how rude! I jogged over and tried to untie the knot, but my fingers kept slipping! Finally after about ten minutes, the knot broke, and the dog jumped up and bounded over to Leo, eager to make a friend. Leo, of course, thought he was being attacked. He held his hands out, trying to protect himself, and the sea of water from, like, twenty-two feet away, flew over and drenched, me and Cerberus. Lucky for Cerberus he could just shake himself clean, me, on the other hand, had to stand there shivering and soaking wet.
“Whoa! Ellie, I am so sorry,” he said, holding back a laugh. Since, Zeus blessed me with some of his powers, all I had to do was rise the heat, about 50 degrees. I was all dry (but my hair) except, Leo seemed to think it was a little to hot. Oh well serves him right, for making me all wet. “Okay, I take it back, I am so not sorry,” Leo said. “Watch out, I am known for always getting revenge,” Leo smiled.
“Oh, no!” I mocked. “Come on,” I brought him into the house, and into the kitchen. “Mom! I’m home! Hello? Hera?” I called out. I went over to the fridge traveling that much in one day, without nector (the godly drink) will slowing deprive you of your sanity. “Here,” I put down a cup in front of Leo.
He shook his head, “How do I know you're not poisoning me?”
“I’m not. And, you need it do you know how far we traveled?” I asked I myself was drinking nectar at that very moment, He shrugged, “Four thousand miles. You need the nectar, or, you know, you always go insane, from the inhumanly fast transportation we took,” I said. He quickly gulped down his glass, and I smiled.
“MOM!” I yelled, “Athena!” That was really weird Mom’s always home. I led Leo over to the throne room, and was surprised to find Aphrodite chained to her throne. All the other thrones were gone.
“Ellie,” she croaked her restraints were obviously on too tight. “He’s here, going, going after the ocean, you have to find, find poseidon,” she moaned. Footsteps creaked against the marble floor. “Hide!” she whisper screamed at us. We dove behind a ten foot high shelf of Hera’s crowns, when Lord Kronos came in, picked up Aphrodite with ease and took her out of the room.
“Leanna, did you find the note Athena told Artemis about?” Kronos asked in a booming voice.
“Well, uh, no. I searched everywhere though, even Castro’s room. She must have been bluffing, Sir,” leanna said hastily. Kronos must have accepted the answer, his footsteps faded away.
“Follow me,” I brought him to a room that only Athena, Hera, and Hermes know about, Hera stores crowns, Hermes stores junk mail, and Athena stores ‘secret’ battle strategies, that everyone knows about. “You stay here, I need to find something,” I admit I may have sounded bossy. I race up the stairs into my room, I know Mom would store any note in my secret place in my closet that only me and Athena know about. I slam open my door and put in the key that that unlocks the secret place. It was actually there! I can’t believe my luck! I open the note to find a note scribbled in blotchy writing, from the one and only, Athena.
Dear Ellie, I knew you would find this. Listen very closely, as you already know Leanna is working for Kronos, but I was able to find a few hints on where the first god you need to find is. As much as it pains me to say, you must find first poseidon, Kronos made sure to restaurants him in a giant clamshell. My bestest wishes, hugs and kisses Athena!
“Leo! Leo! I found a clue!” I screamed. You most likely think that note was left from Kronos, as a decoy. I see why you think that, but clearly at the end, My bestest wishes, hugs and kisses, first of all Athena would never use the word, ‘Bestest’ and take out the, hugs and kisses, you get my best wishes Athena. Athena’s one wish would be to get Hera’s crowns out of the room Leo was in right now. Clearly she wouldn’t risk anyone finding the note so she gave something that would seem worthless in Kronos’s mind, but really this clue may be priceless. I finally reached Leo, breathless, but overrunned by joy.
“What? Did you find the clue?” Leo asked. I nodded not able to talk. “Well, where do we start?” he chided. I pointed to the bookshelves of crowns.
“The real note is somewhere in the miles of crowns,” I replied.
CHAPTER 2:
Hera seriously has a problem, I honestly think that there are over hundreds of crowns here. I had no idea how big the room is. Leo and I have traveled so far, it hard to even see each other! I felt around a found something crumple under my hand. “Leo! Leo, I think I found something!” I chimed. I was ran back to the entrance of the room, where the light was so bright it was blinding. Unfortunately, I wasn’t really looking at where I was going, I ended up tripping over a rolled up battle plan. Lucky, My quick reflexes stopped me from falling on the ground, though, they didn’t stop my ankle from twisting or breaking, (all I know, is that it really hurt).
“What? Did you find…” he looked me wincing from the pain in my ankle. “You okay?” he said. I have to admit, he sounded scared, for my sake. He rushed over, and helped me ease onto a pile of junk mail. Gently, he slid my shoe off my ankle, his eyes were focused, and looked just like the sea, during the sunset, blue, but with a hint of gold.
“Ow,” I said obviously. Leo smiled at me, a mischievous smirk, like when you pull a prank on someone. Looking at my ankle, It sorta reminds me of… a fat, dark, cherry. It was swollen and dark red, and hurt like Hades worst punishment. “Uh, I feel light headed,” I sounded like I was under water. That’s when I noticed I was under water. Leo had flooded my secret room, how dare he get revenge at a time like this. “Leo!” I gurgled for air. Something I may not have mentioned, it that I can’t swim, well, technically speaking I can swim, just not with a hurt ankle. I used the last remaining strength I had in my arms, to push myself to the surface.
“Ellie!” Leo swam over to me. “What happen?” his smirk was gone, he really had no idea how this happened. I didn’t think we were still in the secret room, my prediction was confirmed after Leo helped me swim to the sandy beach we had arrived on. Could we have really landed on Ogygia? Calipso, she could help us! “Where are we? Ellie?” Leo sounded distant. I was in a trance, but I didn’t try to brake it, and I can’t explain why. Calipso was banished to Ogygia by the gods, after supporting the titans in the war. Though I myself am allowed to visit her on her island once a month (you know, so she doesn’t go mad). Calipso and I are actually pretty good friends, (even though she is, like, 5,000 years older than me). I wasn’t awhere that my legs were walking toward a small beach hut without me telling them to move.
I reached the hut, not knowing if Leo followed or not. I knocked on the soft wood door, and it creaked open.
“Ellie?” Calipso sounded like a delicate butterfly. “Why are you here? Is something wrong?” she asked, worrying. I had no idea how to answer that. There was something wrong, but I don’t know if that’s why we're here.
“Ellie! There you are,” Leo jogged over to us. I introduced Leo and Calypso, but since my powers don’t work here I was stuck soaking wet. I realized that I hadn’t even read note.
Dear Ellie and Leo, yes, that’s right I know you're with Leo. Your quest has just began, I honestly don’t know much about what will happen. Though I was able to find out that all the gods are trapped in the one thing that stops their power, or restraints it. I am unsure where I am at the moment, but right now I am not important, like i said in the decoy note you must find Poseidon first. He will be the most helpful. Wish I could help you, Athena.
“Wow,” I was astonished. I had to study a lot to get my internship, but no book could prepare me for this.
“I can help! I know most of the god’s weaknesses!” Calypso exclaimed, she had read the note over my shoulder. “Just get me of this island,” she said. That was easy, now that the gods were gone, no one was posing as the security guard, so we could practically walk right off the island. All I needed to do was call Hammer and then we could ride him to safety. I can’t even explain the crazy petrified look on Leo’s face. Hammer is the fastest shark ever, he flew through the water like a narwal.
Olympus, was smocking. Leanna and Kronos, had set fire to my only home, and they were going to pay.
“Woah,” Leo gasped. “What happened?” i had no idea how to answer. This is why we ended up on Calypso’s island, people get sent there when there is a death defying thing about to happen.
“Hello? HELP!” someone yelped from a small fire that wasn’t extinguished yet. I ran in, that may be my weak spot, running to people who scream help.
Let me know what you think
