The Thief Lord...
The Thief Lord is one of the best books I've ever read. A group of street children living in an abandoned theater, led by Scipio, also known as The Thief Lord, live off the money that they get from selling the things that Scipio steals. But Scipio has a dark secret. This book has adventure, magic, fantasy, and a magic carousel with a winged lion.

I love The Thief Lord! It's by one of my favorite authors (Cornelia Funke)! Have you read here other novels--mainly, Inkheart? I loved the books in that series, too.

I read the thief lord, Inkhart, Inkspell, Inkdeath, and Dragon rider. They are all quite good, although the thief lord was by far the bes of all her books.

I am in the process of reading Inkheart.

Inkheart (and so on) are great except for the villains, who are flat, one-dimensional, and predictable. Particularly Capricorn.
I like everything else about those books, though. The rest of the characters are extremely orignal, and the plot twists were very well done. The only other thing I found vaguely annoying was how emotional everyone kept acting.

I thought the villains were OK, (remember, it wasn't Cornelia Funke who made Capricorn, it was Fenoglio). I didn't notice too much emotionality, myself (is emotionality even a word?)
Emotion is probably the word you mean, Aliza.

I agree with you mainly, but I think Inkspell and Inkdeath have great villains. Does anyone know whether Fenoglio is his first, or last name? The book doesn't say.

You're right. Capricorn is really predictable, but I like Dustfinger. He's cool.

Wow, I have got to say that The Theif Lord is 100% one of my favorite books. The best part was when i read it. I was staying in Venice at the time. It was so much fun that the chapter that Prosper and Riccio escaped Victor, that day I read it I found the 'maze of allys.' I have to say a wonderfull book. Have you seen the movie?

I've seen the movie. I can't quite remember the details of it, but I remember it being funny....
