Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Harry Potter
Okay. I have...

Okay. I have a confession to make. Deap breaths, Booksy, deap breaths. I'veneverreadHarryPotter... Breathe. I've never read Harry Potter. Pleasedon'tkillmepleasedon'tkillme... That is, I started the series. I got to the fifth book. And then... I got super, duper scared. I like the series a lot, but... WHY IS IT SO SCARY?

So. I need your advice. Should I re-read and finish the series? Or should I wait a couple more years? Please? Thanks.

Totally go for it!!! I actually had the opposite problem as you. I'd try to avoid the book because I thought it was scary, and then once I picked it up, I got hooked and couldn't put it down! Just try not to imagine things too vividly and read it like a book, like it's not real. Just go for it.

Okay, Booksy, I know that problem. I watched a murder show on telivision and I accidentally put myself in the person who got murdered's shoes..not fun.

I think you should wait a while to read the last book, but otherwise... Heh! You never just started the series, there's 7 books, so you got pretty far! Give yourself a pat on the back for that!

There's haters, normal readers, and theres extreme lovers of the series. I am an extreme lover and I'm trying to not squeal about it... I reccomend that you read it like it's a normal book, without drawing on what the hater's say or the EXTREME POTTERHEADS say...just read it like it's a normal book! It might help if you have a cuddly companion with you while you do it, or just a pet's cage or bowl nearby...Don't ask. It really helps.

Just keep an eye out for the emotions behind the acts.

Every act, every thing they do in Harry Potter is powered by an emotion. Why, the care in some of Prof. McGonnagal's actions... sorry. I digress. But just look, ok? Promise me that?

I honestly don't know why. When I watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I got scared by the creatures that got Harry. Then I was terrified for HOURS! I never read the fifth book.
