The Lunar Chronicals
 I' ...

I'm considering reading the Lunar Chronicles, is it any good?

Feel free to just talk or debate about the series here. If you are going to spoil something, please write spoiller alert before and after the spoiler. It would really help!

Thanks guys, your'e awesome!

P.S. Did anyone else notice that when you create a new thread, your age is first and then your location?

I would say that no, they aren't any good. I found them to be poorly written and rather junky.

The plot was shallow and predictable, and the characters were stereotype. I thought.

SPOILER ALERT. IF THIS EVEN COUNTS AS A SPOILER.

For instance, in one book the main character spends literally CHAPTERS just wandering around in a desert love-sick-puppying all over this one guy. I don't know, it just got kind of boring, and somewhat queasy.

END OF SPOILER ALERT

I didn't think they required any thinking at all to read, they're basically just teenage romance novels. If you like that kind of thing, you'll probably like these, they just didn't appeal to me.

I offer my sincerest, humblest apologies to the many, many fans of the series. Do with me what you will. I am quite open to having my mind changed.

So there, that's my review! Hope it helped! :)

Oh. Well, I think I'll still try it, but yes, not a huge fan of the light and shallow teen romance. Wait, did you read The Fault in our Stars and not like it? If so, our ideas of shallow teen romance are kind of different. Thanks for the advice anyway though!

No, I have not read The Fault in Our Stars.

Yes, I think you should go ahead and try the Lunar Chronicles- maybe you'll like them. And I haven't actually read the first two books, only the third one. Perhaps I shouldn't have assumed that the first two were bad just beacuase the third one was- it just seemed the logical thing to do, most authors write the same way in all their books. So, anyhow,  try the first one and see what you think. Happy reading! :)

Thanks for the advice, Esthelle! Also, it's perfectly sane to assume the third book in a series will be bad if you didn't like the first 2!

Bibliophile I finally found another Lunartic on CB! Do you have a favorite book (Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Fairest, Winter, Stars Above)? I'm sad to say I haven't got Stars Above yet... I didn't preorder it so I'm waiting for my library to stock it.

My personal favorite is probably Winter, both because I preordered it and own it and keep rereading it and love it more and more, but also because it has all the characters coming together and you see them kind of defying their own character traits and changing.

I also love all the romances! I get why people would say that they're cheesy or weak, but I just like the concept of not having to have a love triangle or angst. The romance is about friendship and then actually considering spending a life together. A lot of teen books don't face that; they're going over and over about romances that are short, not based on friendship, and overall a bit shallow. Not that I don't read trashy romance, but I just think that Marissa Meyer executed Lunar Chronicles romance very well.

Sorry, I haven't read any of the books yet, so I'm not a "Lunartic". In the description of this thread I asked if I should read it. Glad you like the series, and just to let you know, there are other Lunartics in the CB! I'm pretty sure balletandbow likes the series too!

Ok, I know some people don't like these very much, but seriously, THESE ARE SOME OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER!!!  My mom let me read these, and with all the junk that happens in most teen books right now, these are pretty clean.  Yes there is kissing.  Yes they all kinda start dating each other by the end.  Yes there is that awkward 'I'm dating my fiancee's neice' moment for Kai, but that bit is really kinda funny!

Anyway, if you are worried about them being inappropriate, fear no more!  Kisses are the worst things that happen here.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR STARS ABOVE!!!!!  I got all four books on Audible, so they are audiobooks, and at the end of Winter there is an interview between Marissa meyer and Rebecca Solar(the lady who reads them) and Mariss said THERE IS AN EPILOUGE STORY!!!!  WITH A WEDDING!!!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not read the Lunar Chronicles, but am planning to. Also: This is kind of off topic, but I have read The Fault in Our Stars. It was okay, not the best book ever, but still good. And SPOILER ALERT really sad.
