@Lyra- I know who you are, but you said not to guess. I think your character's from The Golden Compass trilogy by Philip Pullman. I haven't read anything but the first three chapters.

Opal K, you got me. I am Scylla. How is that even possible? Niccoló Machiavelli isn't even a "character " in a book! He's a historical figure (that was admittedly used in a book).
