Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Alas Babylon Bookclub
Hey, guys!  ...

Hey, guys!

For a while, we had some great book clubs going and then they diesd. Do you guys want to do one on Alas, Babylon? It's basically about a town spared from a nuclear war.

S.E., Alas, Babylon does not seem to be a book for young people. Please suggest a book that would be appropriate for more of our readers.

If anyone has read these, here are my book suggestions.

-Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan

-Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O'Brien

I might think of more later.

I love Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH! I read it for a bookclub assignment in Fifth Grade. Some suggestions I have:

-The Map to Everywhere by Carrie Ryan and John Parke Davis

-The Girl Who Could Not Dream by Sarah Beth Durst

-The Unicorn Chronicles books 1-4 by Bruce Coville

If I come up with more I will offer them. But these six are what I have for now. I've rarely read anything other than fantasy, unless it's for school.

S.E.: YES!! By Jessica Day George? I love that book! I completely forgot to include it in my list! Have you read the two that follow? They're fabulous!

I love Dragon Slippers!!!

I would also suggest: Princess Academy; or the Alcatraz and the Evil Librarians series.

I'll join!

My suggestions are:

The Giver

Inkheart

Every Soul A Star

Anything sounds good though.

If we do The Giver, I'm outta here. I had to read it for school and it nearly made me sick. The end was good, though. Not good enough to reread the whole book for, however.

I've never read The Book Thief before. Is it good?

Yes, it's good, but very sad.

Have any of you fellow Chatterboxers read The Thief Lord? It takes place in Venice! It's one of my favorite books!
