Umm...Let me see. I like the Penderwicks, Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Molly Moon, Dune, All Creatures Great and Small, and ANYTHING by Agatha Christie.

Hmm.......anything by Diana Wynne Jones, anything by Tad Williams, anything by Brian Jacques, the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (I'm reading the tenth book, which has about 700 pages. I expect to finish reading it sometime next week.........), and The Guardians of Ga'Hoole series by Kathryn Lasky.
