Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Any kind of book that catches your fancy
So this is...

So this is just where you talk about the books you read and seeing if anybody else read it. Then someone else names a book.

I hope this will be fun!!!!!

I'm Dying to Meet you is a pretty good book!

@ Balletandbow I was actually about to suggest the Lunar chronicles! I'm in the middle of Scarlet currently. They're very good, though I liked Cinder best, both as a book and character. Also, Iko is just amazing.

Has as anyone read the Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates series by Caroline Carlsson? I don't think anyone has, but it's amazing. Read it if you like any of the following:

-genuine not-crass slightly-silly humor

-pirates that aren't too scary (and are still adventurous and fearsome while also doing things like baking shortbread and tending vegetable gardens)

-Adventure

-girl-power heroines AND minor characters

-an interesting perspective on magic

-snarky, witty gargoyle sidekicks (I'm serious, there is a magical gargoyle and he is surprisingly hilarious)

-funny interludes in the form of selections from newspapers, letters, the Gargoyle's memoirs, and the like

-treasure hunting!

-finishing school!

-escape from finishing school!

And so on.

But seriously, this series is amazing. And I didn't even mention former governesses on pirate ships and pirate captains that consort with budgerigars.
