Have you ever

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Emotional Books
Have you ever...

Have you ever read a book that made you cry your eyes out, laugh your head off, make you so mad that steam was blowing out of your ears, etc.?

Well, that stuff is aaall gathered around right here. Don't be afraid to tell us about your fav books, nobody knows who you are.

Mine include:

1. Are you there god? It's me, Margaret.

Love Judy Blume. This one made me really think about God, and I actully started to tell Him some stuff, even though, alike Margaret in the book, I do not have a religion.

Ok, sad books coming.

2. The Fault in our stars

Yes. I read it, shocked teenage girls reading this. The nine year old read it. It is SO AMAZINGLY SAD, and I'm not giving any spoilers.

3. Dewey the library cat

I love cats. Unlike the last 2, this is nonfiction about a teeny tiny kitten who is found in a library drop off box. He does some pretty funny things, but in the end . .no pet lives forever.

It made me cry. SO hard.

The only one I can think of this moment is Crookedstar's promise; when he gets his twisted jaw and gets his name, I cried... Man I'm such an emotional person, I cried at the movie "The Fox and the Hound."

Dewey the Library Cat

An amazing book, I immediately wished our library had a library cat. It was so sad at the end though.

I love sad books! I don't know why. My favorites are The Book thief, Where the Red fern Grows, and Navigating Early. The Fault in our Stars is good also and I REALLY want to read Dewy the Library Cat. It sounds amazing.

I want to read The Fault in Our Stars but I haven't found it in the library yet. Christmas is coming, I suppose...

The only book, and I mean only book- yes, seriously- that has ever made me cry is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. I was re-reading it a few months ago and at the end scenes I was bawling! Tears trickled down my cheeks! This is really alien for me, because no matter how many times I've been seriously sad, I had never cried over a book until then. It was so touching, with *SPOILERS*

Edward trying to fly up to the little girl, and Edward being found at the end...

*END SPOILERS*

YES YES YES I cry at that one every time! Edward Tulane's character development is amazing, and all his owners are so uniquely poignant, and... just everything about this book is lovely. I am a very emotional person, but I challenge EVERYONE to read Edward Tulane without shedding a tear!

(Sorry for all the exclamation; I'm a big Kate DiCamillo fan.)

Emily of New Moon is a sad and thoughtful book. I smiled and laughed while reading James Herriot's books and The Penderwick's Series. If you want a heartfelt and incredibly sad book, read Where the Red Fern Grows, and you will not be disappointed.
