Emily of New Moon
Any fans of...

Any fans of L.M. Montgomery's lesser known, semi-autobiographical, totally amazing trilogy on here? I remember a few were before, but since some new peeps have come, I just wondered. As much as I love Anne, I have to say I'm more like Emily--sarcastic, a lover of writing, a complete dreamer, and definitely not so inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt!

If you haven't already read it, but are an AGG fan, you should totally check it out! I might say an older audience (10/11+) would appreciate it more than a younger one--not because of anything inappropriate (it's LMM, after all) but just because the general tone is a bit darker than in Anne.

No, I never heard of that - although I have read all the Anne of Green Gables. Well, almost all.

I'll have to look for it!

Yessss!!!!

I love Emily! I'd like to say I'm like Emily, too! I'd like to think I'm more mature than some, understanding, and smart, though I've got to say I'm not good at arguing, sarcasm, or the Murray pride. :-)

Yeah! I'm reading Anne right now, and Emily is next on my reading list!

Any opinions on Dead Priest's relationship with Emily? There's this huge debate all over the Internet about it...because she's so much younger than him and he goes and falls in love with her. Considering the time the trilogy was written, I can't say there's anything that awful about it (they seemed so much more like soul mates than Emily and Teddy, though with LMM the handsome young too-perfect-to-be-real hero always must marry the heroine). But I wondered what all you clear-minded, undepraved CBers thought about it!

Oooh, tough question! I think Emily wouldn't have been unhappy, and could have stayed friends with Teddy, so I think IRL, it would have been a fine marriage. Teddy and Emily is better, though.

In theory, I feel it was right, though I couldn't understand the extreme incommunication between two people who are supposed to be such good friends. If they really were so close and meant to be as LMM implied, why couldn't Emily just tell him how she felt? Though I guess the Murray pride got in the way. The last book was just painful to read in any case!

Dean will always be one of my fave characters, though--mostly because I feel he's the most emotionally real male character LMM ever created, being different from the Gilbert Blythe/Teddy Kent kind of too-perfect-to-be-true love interest.

Yeah I'd have to say I'm more like Emily.

Definitly.

Didn't we try to do a long lost sister RP and not really get anywhere? We should try that again.

I just reread Anne of Green Gables and like it much more. But the actor who played Gilbert in the movies died a few weeks ago....

Cry

He was perfect.

RIP. Did you ever see the second Anne movie? I think I did a long time ago, but I want to see it again.
