Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Hey guys!I n...

Hey guys!

I need reading suggestions! I like historical and realistic fiction, and classics. Some of my favorite books are Anne of Green Gables, Betsy-Tacy, and Pride and Predjudice.

Thanks!

Hey Booksy Owl- I don't think I've met you yet! Pleased to see you around CB!

I'd suggest the Mother-Daughter Book Club by Heather Vogel Frederick. Its the story of four girls who all really aren't that fond of each, but their mothers form a book club with them. Its really neat, because as the series progresses, they read all the classics you mentioned liking and a few more. I love the series and highly recommmend it!

As Everinne mentioned, try the Emily of New Moon by L. M. Montgomery. If you liked Anne, you'll like Emily!

Also you could try the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the Mysterious Benedict Society series by Trenton Lee Stewart, the Dear America series, and stories by Jean Fritz, Avi, or Roald Dahl.

Hope this helped!

AWiT is one of the great literary achievements of our time, but really I would recommend to you The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It's the best book out of that time period.

If you like classics Try: At the Back of the North Wind, by George Macdonald or The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander.

Pride and Prejudice? Anne of the green Gables? Finally someone appreciates renowed, intricate, classic, and extremely well-written literature.

As for book recommendations, maybe you'd like A Little Princess by Francis Hodgson Burnett, if you liked Anne of the green Gables. It's about a girl named Sara Crewe whose father is very rich, yet Sara is not spoiled. In fact, she is very kind and has a magnificent gift for storytelling. She is sent to Ms. Minchin's Boarding School for Young Ladies, and lives a life of luxury and happiness. But when events take a tragic turn, Sara is sent up to the attic and forced to work as a servant, mistreated by Ms. Minchin and shunned by the other girls. Will there ever be a happily ever after? How will the changes affect her? And there is a curious involvement with magic...

Read this beautifully written classic, and I assure you, you won't be disappointed.
