All 3 series

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Warriors (there are 3 series: Warriors, The New Prophecy, and Power of 3.)
All 3 series...

All 3 series are really great.  The books are about groups of warrior cats living in the forest.  It starts out with a house cat who wanders into the forest and is accepted by one of the four Clans, ThunderClan.  The first series follows him; the second series follows his children; and the third series follows his grandchildren.  The third series currently has I think 3 books out of 6 out.

Hey, I really love them, too. If you love Warriors, then you have to read Varjak Paw, its sequel, The Outlaw Varjak Paw, and The Tygrine Cat. They are about cats with ancient ancestors, too. Totally awesome!!!

I've heard about the seiries--but all I know about them is that it's about cats. Can somebody tell me more about it?

There's a Web site for the seiries. It's awesome!

I've been on it!  It is cool.

Ummm, so they start with this house cat, Rusty.  He wanders into the forest and gets attacked by an apprentice warrior named Graypaw.  Bluestar, the leader of Graypaw's Clan, decides to let Rusty join and gives him the name Firepaw for his fiery coat.  What Firepaw doesn't know is that the medicine cat of the Clan has received a prophecy from StarClan (warrior cat heaven).  The prophecy says that only fire can save their clan.

Firepaw ends up.... I'm not going to tell you how he ends up in the last book of the first series.  That's a surprise, and you'll have to read the books.

Anyway, the second series, Warriors: The New Prophecy, is about his kids, Squirrelpaw (Squirrelflight) and Leafpaw (Leafpool).  One cat from each Clan has to go on a quest to find a new place for the Clans to live, because the forest they live in now is being destroyed.  Squirrelpaw ends up coming along and causing a lot of trouble, but it all turns out OK in the end.  The third series, Warriors: Power of Three, is about Squirrelflight's kids, Lionpaw, Hollypaw, and Jaypaw.  There is another prophecy about them, but if I told you it, it would spoil the story.  Anyway, you're lucky--you won't have to wait for the next book to come out!  The books are all really long and there are like 15 out now, plus a REALLY fat book that comes in between series.

Erin Hunter, the author of the Warriors series is actually three people. Apparently that's how they crank out books so fast.

Yeah, I heard that too.  I wonder why they chose the name Erin Hunter?

Here are the reasons they chose the name Erin Hunter.

As you know, Victoria Holmes, Kate Cary, and Cherith Baldry are all Erin Hunter. Victoria Holmes comes up with most of the ideas, and Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry write. They work as a team to create some of the most amazing books.

Victoria Holmes came to my home city this year, and my mom and i went to see her. She answered questions from the audience, and one of them was Why did you choose the name Erin Hunter? She told us that when they began to write the books they agreed that it would be easier to have all the books under one name, insted of a bunch of different names.

But most interestingly...

You probably know that bookstores alphabetize all the books. One of the biggest series about animals is Redwall (They are very good by the way) by Brian Jacques. J and H are pretty close in the alphabet. Hunter was the name that was closest on the shelf to Jacques so that is what Victoria Holmes decided on. I guess it is kind of a marketing thing. Erin, she told us, was just a name she really likes. Hope this helps!!!

Yeah. She actually is 4 people now... Cherith Baldry, Kate Cary, Victoria Holme, and India Holmes Coulson. She really does get them out fast though. She released Eclipse Sep. 3, and Long Shadows comes out Nov. 25!

I LOVEEE Warriors! I never knew there was a fourth person on the Erin Hunter team. It says on the website that there's three of them, not four, as far as my knowledge goes. WHOA! Nov. 25 is when Long Shadows comes out? I read the little bit of it in the back of Eclipse, but I didn't know it was coming out THAT soon! No wonder they have a fourth person now!!! I wish I was still reading the first series where I don't know what happens next cause then I'd have some Warriors to read while waiting for Long Shadows! I own Warriors: Into the Wild, Warriors: The Power of Three: Dark River, Warriors: The Power of Three: Outcast, and Warriors: The Power of Three: Eclipse. I won't give anything away for those who haven't read Eclipse, but it does have an eclipse in it, and a cat who predicts it! I CAN'T WAIT FOR LONG SHADOWS TO COME OUT!!!! WAHOO!
