Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Villians
As I'm (finally)...

As I'm (finally) reading the Harry Potter series right now and I just got to where Voldemort has come back, I got thinking about all the other villianous characters in literature.

What ones are similar? Is there any that are (whispers) likeable? If so, whos your favorite?

Personally, I like Nancy (Oliver Twist- okay, maybe not a full villian but close) and I see some similarites between Snape and Bill Sikes.

I like all of them!  All the villains!  Every one!

I've always had a soft spot for Gollum. He's not really a villain, but anyway.

I like Snape, too, though he's not exactly a villain either, and only when I saw the movies could I really feel for him.

Luke Castellan, from the Percy Jackson series. He might be my all time favorite villain EVER, because he's so wicked, but you can actually sympathize with him! And his end is so tragic. You just have to love the guy.

Jadis, or the White Witch from the Chronicles of Narnia. So creepy and cool.

Mrs. Coulter from The Golden Compass, because she's so cruel but beautiful. Lord Asriel too, but he's more anti-heroic than villainous.

Actually, I'm kinda liking Snape in the books. Don"t ask me why- I just do:)

I agree that he's not REALLY a villian-but seriously? SOmetime she acts like one;)

Spammy say "nyhe". Nay he? Yes, he is!! Great, Spamster has opinons!:)

I like Dracula. I know it's a long book, but some of you evil lovers must read it ASAP.

I also like the Witch of the West, mostly because I am going to see the musical Wicked, starring the witch when she was younger.

I like Snape and Luke, like Everinne was saying. If you guys have ever watched the cartoon movie Robin Hood, I like the lion version of Prince John. And his snake dude.

I like most villans, actually. I like my cat, yes she is a villan, since she is a witch and she has commited thievery of napkins and cheese wrappers.

My favorite villian would probably have to be Bellatrix Lestrange. Especially in the movie. Helena Bonham Carter is amazing!

Like Everinne said, I have a soft spot for Gollum. When he's not being evil he's really adorable!

Would it be fair to say that I love villains and am disgusted by main characters?

Extremely fair.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with liking villains. I mean, especially if they have some humanity to them. Heroes can occasionally be really goody two-shoes.

Ah, Nancy. I second that. I like pretty much any of the characters from Oliver Twist, though, so...

There is a character from my friend's novel named "Scorpion Boy" who I think is a rather good villian.

The villains from The Night Strangers were vaguely nice at first, but they were rather creepy from the start.

Also Helena Bonham Carter. Always.

Also all of Gillian Flynn's villains.

Cluny the Scourge from Redwall. Okay, so he's a little one sided, but at least he's a villain who means it.
