Chatterbox: Blab About Books

The Fault in Our Stars
...

So I know that talking about TFIOS will just rehatch all my emotions once more, but I feel it is VERY necessary to talk about such a PHENOMENAL book.

I read TFIOS a very months ago, and let me tell you, IT KILLED ME. But in a good way, if that's possible. When I picked it up at the library, I had no idea what it was about or that is was sad. (I read the 7 pages thinking Hazel Grace was a boy:) Not knowing anything made it a much better read because I didn't have any expectations going into it.

WARNING!!!!!!! I'LL BE TALKING ABOUT SPOILERS, SO IF YOU HAVEN'T READ TFIOS, DON'T READ THE COMMENTS!!!!!!!

I'll give you a minute to not read the comments...

I'm not going to beat around the bush.... Augustus Waters dies. He DIES! I cried like a baby. I mean CHEST-HEAVING sobs. Basically from the part when Gus tells Hazel Grace, "I lit up like a christmas tree, Hazel Grace," to the end of the book. I can't even begin to explain how this book has affected me. It's ridiculous. My heart breaks for all the Augustus Waters out there, wanting to impact the world, but not being able to or not having the chance.

After I finished the book (and stopped crying), I sat in my bed and thought about how everyday kids and teens die of cancer. EVERYDAY. Among other things, John Green has made me realize how extremely blessed I am and that I need to be more grateful for the life I have.

I'd love to hear how TFIOS has imapted you, and (if you've read his other books) what you think of them.
