Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Gail Carson Levine
Okay, so who...
Okay, so who reads books written by Gail Carson Levine? She is an awesome fantasy writer, and I've read most of the books she's written. The last book I read of hers was Ever, and I really liked The Two Princesses of Bamarre.
Also, I know at one point in the time of my multiple subscriptions to Cricket, her daughter wrote in a letter, and it appeared in the letterbox, and I was thrilled. So that was cool. But seriously, awesome books, and you should read them.
So who has? What is your favorite? (I'm pretty sure a ton of favorites will be Ella Enchanted, because Ella Enchanted.) Isn't she awesome?

GCL has a daughter?! Since when? I knew she was married, but I never thought she had children...
My favorite book of hers is probably Fairest. Ella Enchanted is really really good too, but I like the tragedy in Fairest. I didn't really like Ever (beside the title, I thought there was too much romance and not enough plot).
I liked A Tale of Two Castles and I can't wait for Beloved Elodie to come out. Does anyone know when it's going to be?
I also read her blog every once and a while; she has great tips for writing good stories.

I LOVE Ella Enchanted, and I feel like I have read another, but I can't remember at the moment.

The Princess Tales inspired me to begin my first story, so I really like GCL. My favorite book of hers, however, is probably The Two Princesses of Bamarre. I just loved that story. Next would probably be Ella Enchanted. :)

I really liked The Two Princesses of Bamarre when I first read it. I loved Meryl!

I know! I really liked The Two Princesses of Bamarre too! It's my favorite. Although I also really liked her volume of princess tales. She even has a book about writing fantasy, which I thing is awesome! Also, Everinne, I agree with you on Ever, and I don't think that it's her strongest book, but maybe that's because she's exploring new grounds with the whole gods/goddesses thing?
Anyway, I admire her work so much and I love her writing style!

The thing with Ever is that I think it would have been really well written by an author who wasn't so...light hearted, so used to writing with humor. It was a good story with an interesting plot, but I think GCL could have made it more poignant and deep, considering the themes, and how the characters were older with a real love story, not those fairy-tale romances in Ella and Fairest.

Oh, Ella Enchanted is def my favorite. I've read Fairest and The Two Princesses of Bamarre, and they were good, but not the kind of book I obsess over. I haven't read The Princess Tales in a long time, but I do remember my mom getting them on tape from the library and my brother and I listening to them together. THOSE were awesome.
