The Unwanteds is...
The Unwanteds is a 3-book series with a 4th book coming out in September. It is about these 13-year old kids who are going to be purged (killed in a lake of boiling oil or something like that) because they are showing signs of creativeness when an old man secretly rescues them. Great books. I practically had a fit when I found out the next book hadn't come out yet. I could barely set them down.

Oh my gosh, I just found these books at the library! I was going to pick up the first one but I had so many other things to check out I thought I'd wait on it. Are they really that good? They sounded awesome when I read the back cover.

@ Everinne: They're really really good. It's got a lot of action and mystery, and has a fantastic plot! I haven't read the second or third (with reading for school, I've had hardly any time for "fun" reading.) But I would definitely give it a try!
