Chatterbox: Blab About Books
I was reading this blog the other day where someone listed all their literary crushes and I thought I'd do the same. I did more or less the same thing before with my old "Crushes" page, but this is strictly about book characters. Here are mine.
1. *whistlesandlooksaroundtheroom* Aragorn *goesred*
2. Laurie from Little Women. I hated Jo for about three seconds when she refused his offer of marriage. I always thought that, even if they did quarrel, they would make a better couple than her and Mr. Bhear, and him and Amy.
3. Luke Castellan from Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Sadly, I like villains, especially if they semi-reform by the end of the book.
4. Edward Rochester. Even though I don't really like Jane Eyre as a novel, I do think Rochester is an awesome Byronic hero. Same with Heathcliff, but Heathcliff's a little too cruel to everyone to actually like.
The list on the blog I read included Gilbert Bythe from Anne of Green Gables. Somehow, though I've never been able to consider him all that great. He was nice to Anne and all, but he didn't have much character. And he did hang on to her a bit, too.

@ The Chocabookaholic:
I loved William Spiver too! Not like a crush, but I thought how terribly fun it would be to have a friend like that. And I am such a hopeless romantical soul, too, though I try to hide it with a Flora Belle Buckman-like cynicism.

Kate DiCamillo's characters are the best! Have you readThe Tale of Desperaux? If so, were you jealous of the Princess Pea? And sorry for Miggery Sow?

I loved the Tale of Desperaux! Well, I love all of Kate's books; I think she's the most talented writer in a long time. Two Newbery Medals and an Award isn't bad. I felt really sorry for Mig, though I felt her presence took away a little from the main thread of the story. But I liked the last part, when she and the Princess were in the dungeon and they consoled each other about their respective losses. And I loved Roscuro. Best anti-hero! And brave little Despereaux with his funny French mother!

What a coincindence, I'm in Dor too! Ah, the perfect soup!

You're in Efrafa! I must reread that!
I, for one, am unfortunately hopeless at cynicism.....
P.S. Hey, Captcha said a real word: unto! And you shall have happiness unto you too, Captcha! (if I even used that word right.....)

I have decided that Sam would be a much better 'just friend'. My big sis typed that in.

Sorry, yes, you can do movie characters on this one. Since so many people have seen the movie versions of books anyway, the movie characters count.
(February 22, 2014 - 8:18 pm)
Oh, so we can add movie characters too? I hate the new and improved older Josh Hutcherson (not that I've watched The Hunger Games, thanks to my parents), but I had such a bad crush on the "Bridge to Terrabithia" Josh Hutcherson. My dad read me the book when I was 6, and I haven't seen the movie in a while, but he was adorable. Most of the time, it's people's personalities that I really adore. When people have a whole pinterest board full of random celebs that they think are hot have "crushes" on, I just don't understand how people can be like "Oh, he's hot! I wish he was my BF!" without even knowing their personalities.

I don't really hate Josh Hutcherson (or The Hunger Games, or Josh in The Hunger Games), just to be clear.

So, now that we are allowed to do movie characters, I had such the the horrible crush on Hugo Cabret from the movie Hugo. Again with the hopelessness, you.

Oooh, my gosh. If we're doing movie characters, I have such a bad crush on Duckie from Pretty in Pink! Sweetest. Cutest. Guy. Ever.

I remembered another of mine: Perry Miller from The Emily Trilogy. Teddy was nice and all, but I preferred Perry's more breezy, roguish disposition. Not to mention I always thought him extremely good looking. Not in the very upper-class, artistic way Teddy is, but in a more rough, vagabond style. That is, of course, before he became the lawyer.
I always had a soft spot for Dean Priest too. I didn't exactly crush on him, but I guess I was extremely sympathetic with his loneliness. I kind of wished Emily married him after all. He was completely cruel to lambast her story just because he liked her, but before this, he seemed like such a good friend to her.

Okay...
Oliver Wood from Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
Sam Gribley from My Side of The Mountain
Ron Weasley from Harry Potter
And others I can't currently think of
