I like two books by Ralph Fletcher, Fig Pudding and Flying Solo. Flying Solo is about a day in school where the kids run the class all by themselves, and Fig Pudding is a sad story about the Abernathy family. I also like the Penderwicks books by Jeanne Birdsall, books about a slightly eccentric group of sisters. And there's of course Harry Potter.

One of my all-time favs is Molly Moon. It's a series (I think there's four out so far) and it's about this girl hypnotist and her hpynotizing pug. It's really good, especially for people who love pugs (like me :)).
