Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Great Expectations
When I first...

When I first saw this book, I was like, "Ugh!!!" but then I started reading it and it was just great. I can't believe I ever hated it. It's about a boy who lives with his sister and her husband because his mom and dad are dead. The boy sees an escaped convict one day and the convict threatens to kill him unless he brings the escapee some food. He does, and this unravels all sorts of weird but satisfiying adventures, including the boy meeting Estella, a proper girl that wears a different patterned dress everyday and lives with her grandmother. The boy loves her dearly, but she hates him, saying he is of lower class than she.

I started to read A Tale of Two Cities and got kinda bored.  Have you read that one?  Is it better than I thought?

Hi Hannah,

I'm trying to read Great Expectations right now! I say "trying" because it seems to be taking my forever! I've been working on it for almost 2 months, when usually I read books in 2 days. I like the plot, I just wish it would move a little faster.

Yeah, the plot was really slow in A Tale of Two Cities, too. I guess that's because they didn't use dialogue as much when those books were written.

And Estella really gets on my nerves, along with Miss Haversham. I also think Pip is being stupid. He should just fall in love with Biddy. I like Biddy.
