Emily's Quest (Emily of New Moon)

*OUTRAGE*

The back of the book states that Emily "agrees to marry a man she doesn't love ... as she tries to banish all thoughts of Teddy."

Before I read the book,  I said to myself, "Please let that not be alluding to one of her friends. Not Dean or Perry. Not Dean or Perry." Aaaand... (*spoiler alert*) it was Dean. Of course.

But now, I'd rather  her marry Teddy anyway. I don't know what happened to Dean to turn him into such a jerk! He was one of my favorite characters and now I absolutely hate him. And, yeah, I do feel bad for him that he's never had anyone special in his life. But that's not going to be enough consolation for me.

And Emily wasn't trying to "banish all thoughts of Teddy."She said, "I was so sure last summer that Teddy no longer meant anything to me - so sure that I really cared enough for Dean to marry him.

And the whole book is just soooo over dramatic and whiny. I'm getting frustrated, but can't put it down.

Arrrghhhh I just needed to vent.

I love these books! My least favorite one was Emily's Quest. Too much romance.

Emily's Quest was a very very sad departure from the first two. The first two were like a more mature version of Anne of Green Gables. Emily's Quest just became a romance novel.

Dean got so....obsessive over Emily, just as she got obsessive over Teddy. And I hated how Dean lied to her about her book. It wouldn't have made her leave him, and once the truth came out, their friendship was broken! And why oh why didn't Emily tell Teddy she liked him? I mean, if only she had, the whole tension would have been broken. And I wish Ilse didn't change. She didn't change that much, I guess, but it was like I was reading about a completely different set of characters.

I still like Dean a little more than Teddy, though. Teddy's too...Disney prince-like. Not much character. Perry is my favorite though, because even though he "imagined" that he loved her, he at least treated her nicely instead of lying and breaking her heart all over the place.
