You know what
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
You know what I was thinking about?
A friend of mine was recently reading The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. And it got me thinking about my own secret garden. So I was wondering, if ya'll had a secret garden, what would it look like?
Mine would be hidden the way the real Secret Garden was, by a wall hidden with ivy and a hidden door.
Inside, it would be like a small valley. A pond would sit in the center, with wild birds, like ducks and geese, nesting there. Trees would be dotted around, with a weeping willow atop a hill, creating a nice little reading nook. There would also be another large tree, big enough to climb, have a treehouse (I've always wanted a treehouse), and just to lay, stare up at the sky, and daydream. And there would also be a swing.
Many different kinds of birds and animals would live there, and lots of different kind of plants and flowers! I would also have a little shed to keep gardening tools to plant my own flowers and plants.
So, what would ya'll do? Admin, what are your thoughts?
A high stone wall, covered with ivy. Lots of roses inside and flowering trees. A comfortable swing. A pond and a variety of singing birds.

Oh gosh, Admin, that sounds gorgeous! That's a bit how I picture mine!

Beautiful flowers, lush grass, rich dirt, a weeping willow tree or two at the edge of a shimmering pond, more strong trees around the place as well, good enough to climb. Ah, if only that fantasy would come true.

It would be walled, and it would be almost virtually seamless. No one could enter or exit unless they had a very, very important reason to. It would be carpeted with grass and would have lots of tall, ancient trees that would never lose their leaves. Birds would sing all day long and at night, the moon would always illuminate it. There would be a little cabin where I would live, and I would never use electricity, only candles. In front of the house would be a hundred and one different varieties of flower.
Notice: I might use this garden in a future story, so no one use any ideas...

You would have to enter it by knowing what two trees to pass between in the woods because the entrance would be glamored. The outside would be lined with vines of thornless roses in all different colors. There would be wildflowers growing all around in whatever way they desired, but weeds would never grow and it would never become unruly. To one side would be a long, crystal-clear lake with a weeping willow reaching into it. There would be a rock on one side of the lake that you could jump off to get in the water if you don't want to walk in and the mermaids who dwell there would be friendly. Adorable rabbits and birds would be free to roam. There would be a bench across from the lake with a whimsical design that fit in with the rest of the garden, and it would always be in the shade no matter what the weather. The rest of the garden would stay at a comfortable temperature, warm enough for swimming but not to sunburn.

This book is one of my favorites, of course, since it's a classic! My secret garden would be full of flowers, especially roses. I would love to have a swing and a bench to sit on. Lots of animals, like bunnies, would come over to play with me, and friendly birds would sing their songs on my finger. The garden will also have a pond with waterlilies. A high stone wall covered with blooming flowers will surround the garden. I would love to have a reading nook, too, since reading in my secret garden would be like one of the paradises I always dream about!

My Secret Garden would be hidden (that is sort of obvious). Perhaps behind the branches of a gigantic willow tree - you'd have to pass under them to get through. The weather would always be nice, warm but not too warm and sunny but not enough to burn. You could walk around barefoot because the grass is soft and spongy and not filled with woodlice or ticks. In the middle of my garden there would be a sparkling pond, deep enough to swim in and with very clear water and lily pads. There would also be a wooden dock to sit on. Around the pond there would be trees, tall and green and shady. And somewhere in these trees would be a large patch of beautiful flowers. I forgot, right next to my pond there would be a huge tree with a rope that you can swing off of and jump into the water. My secret garden would be free of human noise, just the rustling of trees and twittering of birds and somewhere near the water would be a hammock.
