I loved reading these! It really put history into a close, yet fictional, perspective.

I read the Titanic one earlier this year, it was really good! I also read most of the Revolutionary War one (Winter of the Red Snow?) in 5th grade, but I don't remember if I finished it.

OH MY GOSH I LOVE THESE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Abigail: My Story and Dear Canada sound interesting! I totally want to read them. Winter of Red Snow is one of my favorites too, because the American Revolution is maybe one of my most favorite historical eras EVER!!!!
Of the Dear Americas, I've read:
Voyage on the Great Titanic: The Diary of Margret Ann Brady, R.M.S Titanic, 1912 (on my calender, I literally have the dates of when the Titanic sank, and how many years ago.)
Across the Wide and Lonesome Prairie: The Oregon Trail Diary of Hattie Cambell
The Winter of Red Snow: The Revolutionary War Diary of Abigail Jane Stewart, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, 1777
(Valley Forge was such an interesting place cause that's where/when Thomas Payne wrote the first pamplet of The American Crisis, with the famous starting words; "These are the times that try men's souls.")
A Journey to the New World: The Diary of Remember Patience Whipple, Mayflower, 1620
(I heard that one was made into a movie, as were a few others!)
So Far From Home: The Diary of Mary Driscoll, an Irish Mill Girl, Lowell, Massachusetts, 1847
My Heart is on the Ground: the Diary of Nannie Little Rose, a Sioux Girl, Carlisle Indian School, Pennsylvania, 1880
(Saddest one I have ever read.)
Christmas After All: The Great Depression Diary of Minnie Swift, Indianapolis, Indiana, 1932
(This is my other favorite one because she became a pilot for the WASPS! I admire the WASPS SO GREATLY. Plus, I kinda want to be a pilot too.)
A Light in the Storm: The Civil War Diary of Amelia Martin, Fenwick Island, Delaware, 1861
A Time For Courage: The Suffragette Diary of Kathleen Bowen, Washington D.C., 1917
(I greatly admired this one too because I greatly admire the Women's Suffragettes.)
The Girl Who Chased Away Sorrow: The Diary of Sarah Nita, a Navajo Girl, New Mexico, 1864
A Line in the Sand: The Alamo Diary of Lucinda Lawrence, Gonzales, Texas, 1836
There's a Dear America where two sisters are heading west or something, and *spoiler the younger sister dies. Does anyone know which one that is? I remember reading it, but I can't remember much about it, or the characters. It was a long time ago.

@BHR
Winter of the red snow is one of my favs! (hence partially my Chatterbox name) They came out with a sequel, Canons at Dawn, a year or two ago and I love that one too!!!!
I have seen the movie for Journey to the new world, its really good. I have not watched any of the others, though.
The name of that Dear America is West to a Land of plenty, and personally, I don't like it that much. Just my opinion, though:)

Those used to be my favorite. I read all the ones I could find. I can't remember specifically which ones now. I remember my favorite was So Far From Home. My favorites of the Royal Diaries were the ones about Jahanara and Elizabeth I.
(January 24, 2014 - 10:30 pm)
I used to read these all the time. Sadly, I haven't found them here.
@BHR- I don't know what that one is called but I think I read it, too. Is one of the sisters name Rose?
My favorite Dear America was So Far from Home and Standing in the Light. I especially loved The Royal Diaries book about Sissi, the empress of Austria or Hungary.
(January 25, 2014 - 3:31 am)
Ooh, the ones about Marie Antoinette and Isabella were good, too.
(January 25, 2014 - 1:13 pm)
Has anyone seen the movie version of the Royal Diaries? They were pretty short (only like 45 minutes or something) about Elizabeth, Isabella and Cleopatra. I found it by accident at the library and really liked it. They changed a lot from the diaries, but it was still really enjoyable.

I love these books. My favorites are Voyage on the Great Titanic, I Thought My Soul Would Rise and Fly, A Picture of Freedom, Mirror Mirror on the Wall, My Face to the Wind and Hear My Sorrow.
Of the Royal Diaries, I absolutely love Anastasia's, Marie Antionette's and Mary Queen of Scotts.
