Do you like to read classics? What kind of books do you like to read? I love classics, and I would like to recommend What Katy Did, The Princess and The Goblin, The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, The Wizard of Oz... all of those great books! Most of the classics have high reading levels. Action/adventure is not really my reading comfort zone, so books like Hunger Games are not for me.

If you enjoyed Anne of Green Gables, you should totally check out the Emily trilogy, also by L.M. Montgomery. Similar idea, very entertaining.

I also love The Once and Future King, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings, but those are, obviously, all fantasy. I have a very limited reading range... :(

Although I have no immediate recommendations, I understand. I am in seventh grade and I just did a project on Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and before that a project on Pride and Predjudice. I suggest broadening your range and looking for books in the adult section once in a while for there are tons of great books at a suprisingly appropriate reading level.

I really like anything by Rick Riordan. He writes books about normal kids that find out that they are the children of gods or goddesses. There is a Greek myth series a Greek and Roman series and an Egyptian series.

I am in sixth grade and I know how you feel. Do you do the Lexile way? My school does and I have to find books above 10 Lexile. The latest book I read was about the French Revolution. It is called The Scarlet Pimpernel. Pimpernels are flowers. It is historical fiction. Let me know if you think you might read it.
