Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Favorite Poems
I figured it...

I figured it were about time I do a favorite poetry thread, especially since Maggie has kindly showed us some of her own work. Also, I have to study American poetry this year for English class, and I want to know you opinions on it.

First: Who is your favorite poet?

Second: What is your favorite poem?

I love all of the Romantic poets, antediluvian as it might seem, and also W.B. Yeats. However, I really like Emily Dickenson's short, intense but artistic style. I really dislike modern poetry though--the stuff that's published in literary journals. It's not aesthetic, doesn't make you think, or is it entertaining to read. If any piece of literature is not at least one of the above, it's not worth reading.

I said before my favorite poem was The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe, but I really like all narrative poetry. T.S. Eliot's Wasteland and Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock are quite arcane to read, but still pretty at the same time.

What are your answers to the questions above?

1. I love Robert Frost, Edgar Allen Pose, Emily Dickinson, Susan Hartley Swett.

2. I can not choose. Seriously. Anything by Edar Poe, Stopping by Woods On a Snowy Evening, and July are my favorites.

I love Jabberwocky! I won't hit you, Blackberry, because I totally forgot it too! I've memorized it and sometimes recite it to myself when I have nothing else to do. :)
